Marji, I have the Janome 350E, basically the same machine as yours, but with a few updates/improvements, and it takes normal USB flashdrives, a big plus in my book. I've never had any problem with the giga hoop, and I've used it heaps, I only have one very, very minor concern and that is that the front left corner is left flapping in the breeze when it's stitching the back right corner, but to solve this I put a pack of envelopes, stood on end, under that corner - they are just the right height and it works and was a cheap fix, haha. Next time you're passing your dealers, call in and have a demo, see what you think. I wouldn't be without mine, it opened up a whole new area for me. Also it was my pleasure to do the hummingbird window to show everyone, and please take a really deep breath, I can't bear to think of you breathless for so long, haha! Hugs and a flower for you too sweetie.

Yep, Ruthie, like I told Raels, I think I'll be off to the dealer soon & do a test drive on that Gigahoop. It just made me skittish to have *all* that unsupported hoop hanging out there. And even my 5x7 hoop does that little 'flapping in the breeze' thing once in a while, though it seems to sew out ok. I'm just a "Nervous Nellie" when it comes to these things. Thanks for the help, and I'm 'breathing' again, hee hee hee. Marji

dlmds, I answered this in your question to jrob, but here it is again! I used *homespun*, so the fabric was reasonably tightly woven, I found an 80/12 needle was good, didn't starch but used a medium weight iron-on stabiliser, hooped tightly, but not quite drum tight. The design isn't actually as dense as it first looks, the background of the picture isn't solid, only the bird and flowers are dense. It was fun to do, and I'm thrilled with the result, so hope this inspires you to try it, hugs and flowers.

Yes Ruthie, same questions for me, plus one more. Which Janome do you have? I have the 300E, and I have been skittish of that Gigahoop because I don't have enough faith in the arm that moves the hoops. Sometimes I feel like even my 5x7 hoop with material, etc. in it is 'too much' for that arm. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to spend that kind of $ for the Gigahoop only to find that it didn't do what I wanted. Or maybe I should change my needle more often, giggle, snork. (see answer to Raels needle question for this reference). And again, thanks for doing up the hummingbird panels for everyone to see, I'm still breathless! Marji

I have a 300E and I find it very good. and the Gigahoop is fine with it. It might just be you need to change needles more often if the arm seems to be working extra hard

Thanks, Raels, glad to know you don't have any trouble with your Gigahoop. It just seemed that something that big wouldn't have enough support to hold that much stabilizer & material & still sew out ok. I always feel the material, like a t-shirt or sweatshirt, would drag it down on the part that wasn't directly under the presser foot. Maybe I'll be off to the dealer soon to try one. Thanks for the encouragement. Marji
