At times with a lite woven fabric I iron a fusible interfacing to the back before I embroidery. Does any one elce do this?

When I use lighter wovens, I'm usually doing them for a quilt, so I want the softness of the material without the stiffness a fusible would give. I tend to make more work for myself, but since I like the 'quilted' look it gives, I hoop the light material with felt, then float a tearaway on the bottom. It gives a really 'dimensionsl' look to the embroidery. But I am using these for quilts, not clothing items. It also results in some real gymnastics when you go to put all the pieces together, because then you don't have one solid batt. But then, I always did go the long way 'round the barn on things. dlmds, I sometimes use an iron-on stabiliser on organza if I don't want the see-thru look, but want the shimmery look, like on a free-standing butterfly (when it's not free standing lace). But I only iron where the design will be. Hugs and flowers.

Hi, I use iron on stabilizer on T shirts and sweatshirts, too, if the design is quite dense. It keeps the shirt from stretching, and supports the stitches well, along with a cutaway stabilizer underneath. Judy L. MI Flowers to the BD gal and all who share info with us!
