this may not be a very logical question and i may feel stupid for asking but...

I'm with cutiepie and dianes, I rarely stitch the same colors as the designs, and in fact I've only looked at a colorchart once, and decided it wasn't my way! If I want the same colors that I see on my monitor, I just hold my threads against it and pick that way - always works for me. Have a fun day choosing all those colors girls.

I guess I'm just a rebel. I don't rely on colorcharts or anything. I just pick the colors from my stash that I think will work best for the design, and who cares if it matches the original? Most anyone who sees the finished product will never see the original anywhere anyway. =]

I agree, I don't always use the same colors either. Once you are saving it, the same colors don't show on my machine.

THIS IS A GOOD THREAD CHART:

Just a bit more... Each company/site may use a different brand of thread..And yes the color numbers do not usually match. Usually if you look at the color charts they tell you what brand they use. Don't forget to look for availability of free thread conversion charts.

I use Madeira. But the VIP file gives Sulky and the JEF does give Madeira, but the numbers are not the same as on their colour chart. I checked after I read your question. So I'd better start downloading colour charts, at least for those designs that I want to be in their colours, like the strawberries I intend to stitch out for my strawberry crazy daughter.i.l. So thanks for raising the issue.

I have found that its always best to download the charts regardless I guess. You can always use the chart to convert the colors..I only use Robison Anton colors..

I have an SE. Sometimes color charts are downloaded with the designs but others maybe not. If you bring the designs into 3D or 4D Studio(Extra)you will get a chart that you can print out and use. It depends upon what thread brand you have chosen in studio as to how the colors are transfered. Because I have mine setup for Robinson-Anton the colors do not always translate correctly(or the same). When possible I try to print a color chart from the site. "Cute" has that available on most designs. That way I have the original selected colors. Many companies seem to use Madeira thread. Some companies have free conversion charts available by typing in the colors you want to convert. Also, I understand that the emb machine has a limited number of thread colors stored so it selects one close to what it interprets. Hopefully, I answered part of your question.

I have the new Limited Edition Designer SE from Husqvarna..I noticed that all of the embroideries have a seperate download for the color chart..is there no color chart in the zip file and do I have to download the color chart seperately for each design I choose to download..? or will it show up when I put a design in my machine?

You will get a color chart in the machine when loaded but some of the colors may not be exactly as the orginal design.
