This is adorable, and I can't believe I missed it when it was first posted. Thank you, Lee, for all of your hard work!
It's nice to see this back at the top. It is so cute. The small pes will fit in the Brother 4 inch hoop. Please scroll through the comments for more tips.

Thanks so much for your replies to my queries. Looks like I will have to work a bit harder to get them done on my Janome machine. Thanks again.
I have embroidered this sleigh, but the candy cane made here in Australia will not fit in the holes. I remember reading somewhere what to do to make the holes bigger. Help anyone.
place the fold over the first line you stitch, instead of on it. If you move the felt above or below this line, you will make the holes bigger or smaller

I made two of these on felt, one a mirror image and sewed them together with a 3" wide piece of felt to make a candy dish. It came out great and is so cute.
I think I am starting to get it. Once you fold the felt you have to rehoop it to keep it in the hoop. Is this correct. Thanks.
I am still trying to find out please what holds the felt when you fold it and put the felt on the guide line. Is it held there with spray. So far noone has been able to answer me. Can anyone help please. I have asked before but no reply. Thanks.
Hope this helps. You hoop your stabiliser and stitch out the placement line.Fold your felt and put the fold on the placement line. You could hold it with spray (making sure not to put it near the folded area)or tape or just your fingers .Make sure you dont get them in the way of the needle.I would assume the next stitch would be the outline.Once that is stitched, your fabric is held in place and you can enjoy watching it stitch out.Hope this is clear for you.
At long last the penny drops (so to speak). I tried one yesterday and it worked. I had to cut the stitches at the bottom so a hole would appear to put the candy cane through. Thanks sorry for all the trouble I have given you.
Oh my goodness these are adorable...I just finished making a few and ran out of red felt so I made one in Pink and it is so cute. Good job.
Thanks. A question please. If you fold the felt. How do you keep it in the hoop as you embroider out the rest of the design. I am trying to imagine it, but unless you use spray I can't envisage it. Help please. Thanks again.
hoop your tear away stabilizer and sew the first line, fold your felt and place it on the first line you stitch, then the next one will hold down the felt for you. I have never used the spray with these.

Thanks Lee. Your description is great and it is a wonderful design. Thank you for the gift.
Hi Lee,
I have some orders for the sleigh candy cane holders this year. I tried to click on your name to find other designs that you have done. It doesn't work like it used to.
I missed this one last year, too.
Now I can have fun making and giving this year.
Thank you, again, and for the great instructions.
AlmaG.
Now, after doing 6 of these cute sleighs today, you do have to unpick the vertical lines under the sleigh when
you are finished.
Oh, I think I just figured it out. You don't put your folded felt piece down until the 4 rows of stitches that are vertical to the bottom placement line are stitched out. Is that right? Of all the things that I have lost, I miss my mind the most.
Margie
Hi Margie... don't put your felt down until you sew the first line. The first line is a single line across the bottom. That is your placement line for your felt. Place the fold on this line. Then sew the rest of the design. Right click on the picture above and click save as picture. This will help you. Once you do one , you'll have no problem with the rest :)

Thank you for this lovely design. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I placed the fold of the felt on the line as you instructed. With the 2 lines stitched vertically from the bottom line to the sleigh, there is no room for the candy cane. I have had to unpick the 4 lines of stitching that are at the bottom of the sleigh. I am going to make 16 of these for my grandaughter's pre school class. Thank you again for your generosity and giving so freely of your talents.
Margie
Just tried my first sleigh, used up almost empty bobbins and such and figured out for the right size bottom loops but it turned out kinda cute! Now I can do a good one next time. This one is going to lose the bottom loops and top ring and get filled with catnip! No waste here, lol!
:) if you line up the fold on the first line stitched, it should be the right size for the candy canes but if you candy cane is biiger, then just put the felt a little lower on the fold line.
hugs Lee
I am getting pretty good at lining it up now but the cat loved that first one, lol. She bathed on it and I haven't seen it since! She hides her favorite toys from the other cat, lol!
You never cease to amaze me with your talent and creativity. I love all your designs and wish I knew how to think up the many things you come up with! Thank you for your generosity! God bless you,
Meri
thank you so much Meri... i have been blessed in many many ways.

This is a terrific idea. Thanks so much. And so easy to personalise, as well.
more details on making sleigh, i used tear away stabilizer
I found I can get to of the sleigh out of one of the pieces of felt. I figured out the stabalizer out the hard way. LOL I tried wss first, and didnt like the results at all.
Thank you so much. I will be sewing this right away for the tree. I was also wondering about the stabilizer you used. Does it show on the back? In your picture, it doesn't show at all not even on the little hoop. How and when did you remove it? I don't do much applique so I am a little confused. Thank you, Gigi
I was wondering if you could please put the Happy Holidays here for us also. Also the picture has 2 sets of holly, and the design has one, with just one leaf. Could you please do these also if you have the time. I would really appreciate it. Thanks Iva
sure i can put on the Happy Holidays for you but i didn't digitize all the holly because i wanted more room on the design for names etc. When i drew the picture it was just a thought..hehehe
hugs Lee

Right now, next to me I have the "snowman tissu holder" I made. I don't promise anymore to download the photo I haven't taken yet because I am about to do "the candy cane holder sleigh" !!
lol.... good for you. I know the feeling. My brain is on over load these days and i don't have enough time or sewing machines to keep up.
hugs Lee
I think I shoulda started Christmas sewing last year! All these wonderful new designs!!! Hahaha! Thanx so much Lee! Hugs, Judy
Thanks i got your sleigh on my homepage its sewwwwwwww cute to Carolyn
with this one Carolyn you don't have to stop and put another piece of felt under your hoop. Just fold it and place it on the first stitch line and go!
