Barbaralee, you now have 10 flowers because I’ve sent you one. Just to add to what mops said, the flowers can be sent to others for asking a question or giving an answer. You can’t send yourself a flower, but can send to everyone else. As yet we don’t know the significance of the flowers, it seems to be a mystery only the site administrator understands, hopefully she’ll share with us one day. In the meantime enjoy your flowers.

Your question has been asked a few times before. What I learned from the answers is that you get 1 flower per 24 hours when you visit the site, 1 flower for an answer and flowers from the community which they can give you for an interesting answer, by clicking on the orange flower next to your name. As what they are for: that's still a mystery. Here's one flower from me.
