My late sister (she been gone 15 years this year - a tragedy as she did not see her 50th birthday) was always a very superstitious person and as children do we sometimes fell out. I would then (to my shame now) tell her of some new superstition I had heard and kept for just such an occasion and bless her she would have another whatever to be wary of.

As I grew to an adult I decided to try to turn all my sister's superstitions to the positive from the negative.

What is the point of my telling you this - well - it is Friday the 13th and I know some people almost dread getting out of bed today because they expect something to go wrong.

I now regard this day as a very good day and LOOK for some good in it. Today I have a feeling of great contentment after a few difficult days. Now that's good isn't it?
Happiness is transient and can come and go but a contented heart can still be found even in sad or troubled times.

Wishing everyone a contented day

I'm glad you are taking what was once a bad day and turning it into a positive one. That is what the Lord would want you to do. He makes EVERY day a GOOD day. We just have to be positive and recognize it. Not to say we won't have bad days, but we can still rejoice even in the bad... :) I don't believe in superstitions or luck, but I do know some that do. I think things like that chain ppl down from the freedom of Christ. :) Have a wonderful and blessed day... Hugs, Terre

The lady I work for is superstitious, too. I didn't tell her today was Friday the 13th! What a great idea. I'll work at getting her to find a positive in her superstitions, too! Knock wood!! haha!! Thank you.

I'm not superstitious at all.....but I join with you in always trying to look for the good, if a day isn't going right I remember that God gave me another day of life and Jesus said He left his peace and joy with us....so basically I'm a very contented person.....Janet

It's like the song says. This is the day that the Lord hath made. We should be glad and rejoice in it!

Reva, that isn't just a song, but from Ps: 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. But I love the song too. :) LOL

You are right...it just came to mind as a song since we sing it often at church.

My daughter reminded me of Friday the 13th earlier in the week since my car got hit and was completely totaled. It's just another normal day and I don't have any problems getting up but try to stay home if possible. I'm glad this is a positive day for you. We should never have to be afraid of the day and remember to celebrate each day as a gift.

This is so true!
Just remember!
Yesterday is HISTORY, Tomorrow is a MYSTERY, Today is a GIFT. That's why they call it a PRESENT!
Have a good one. Sukiray

Don't think this counts as a Friday the 13th thing cause it happened yesterday but we just realized it today. My husband lost his remote to our house alarm system, so somewhere floating out there is a remote to disarm our system! Hope he lost it far enough away that nobody will know what house it goes to! MEN!!

I have never really been superstitious, at least not to the point where I dreaded something. But I know some people who are. Good for you for turning this into something positive in memory of your sister.

I bought a lotto ticket that is supposed to be drawn today (but didn't realize it was Friday the 13th until this morning), so that would be really nice if I won some big money from it. Is that being superstitious?! Our family could really use some big bucks right about now...we are headed into the "11th hour" of some heavy, heavy financial stuff! (If there are any heavenly angels out there watching over my shoulder as I type this, please take notice!!)

My hubby was born on Friday the 13th and I know that was a great thing. I love him so much and we have been married for 37 years, and love him more now than I did then.....
It might not have been so good for his mom for a while, but I bet she was glad he was out.....
Always 2 sides to everything and if you can't find it, just make some lemonade......

I think all days are Days of the Lord, so matter what day is, it is a beautiful one.
