I downloaded the free trial of embird and I tryed a few things, like resizing a design (merry christmas in chinese).

Then I saved it in my usual file with a new name.
When I wanted to copy it to the USB key, it said:
<< Confirm Stream loss.
The files "Mer.Christ.Chin-Sm.vp3"has extra information attached
to it that might be lost if you continue copying.
The contents of the file will not be affected. Information that might be lost includes:
Summary Info
Document Summary Info
Do you want to proceed anyway ? >>

I never had that message before !?
I can see my new file on the key in the computer but my sewing machine doesn't detect it !?

Is it because it is a trial version ?
Do I miss a procedure between "resizing" and "save as" ?
when I choice to save in .vp3, the file comes up in my file as .vp3 and .edr which I didn't ask for !
Thank you for your help. Cathie

edr is your matched embird file it does that automaticly you can delet the edr files trial versions do tend to be a bit confusing but it is a wonderful program once you get to use it did you just copy to usb or did you write it to usb there is a difference as a copy wont always come up on a machine where a writen file will hope thats some help for you Happy Sewing Shaz

The .edr file is the design's colour information created by Embird, you can also create this colour info in .txt files or .rgb files.
Your machine does not need this to allow the design to be stitched out correctly as it will allocate the nearest colour available from the machine's colour pallette.

The message you are seeing is quite a common one when copying design files and is not unique to Embird, I sometimes get it when copying or moving design files from one folder to another in Windows.
You can just ignore this particular message as the design file will still be OK.

When you are saving the design file to your USB to upload to your machine, you do not Save it.

Take the design back into the Manager module and right click on the design in the right panel, not the centre panel,

then select the "Input/Output Operations" option,

when the next menu opens, you can select either "USB Stick" or "Husqvarna Viking USB Stick", (depending which one will work for your machine)

It will then give you the screen to choose where to find your USB stick,

Then it will give you the screen to choose the format you require.

This is the only way you will capture all the information your machine requires to read the design and is totally different to just saving a design to your computer.

The trial version does have some limitations but you need to check the Embird website to see what they are in the latest version.

Hugs n roses, Meganne

Hi: I also have Embird as a registered user. When you use the 'trial' version, it does not let you save to any media, such as flash drive, or even to your computer. It only does that when the software has been registered. Saving to a USB key will always come up with that message. Even if you save it to an external hard drive you get that message, unless your 'media' is configured to the same as your hard drive. I've had that issue and the only way around it is to save to the hard drive, especially if you want to save colors, resize, notes, etc. I always keep a separate file of notes, info on any special designs I want even if I save it to the flash drive or external. USB drives/external drives have a different 'format' configuration than your computer's hard drive.

Embird always gives an .edr file which is not an embroidery file but holds the extra information. And I too always get the same message you got when I copy a design to the USB stick for my machine - and I have the regular version (which is exactly the same as the trial one). Not copying the .edr file does not in any way affect the embroidery design itself, so nothing to worry about.

I have, however, no idea why your sewing machine does not detect the file.
