Great idea. I will have to give it a try.
Oh, do! Once you make a couple of yard worth of gift bags, you will be happy to use them each year!!
I started to do this last year. I used a 'xmas' embroidery on a piece of plain poplin. Pieced colours red, yellow, green or puple in a pleasing combination to make carry bags.
Good for you! Buy some mark down holiday fabric and make some more!! Go green!*
Fantastic idea Laura, I have 5 days left before I leave for Toronto for Christmas, how many can I make ??? LOL ... *4U
Actually - 1 yard of fabric will make many gift bags!!! You could do one yard...lol!*
What a great idea
Thanks - it takes a little effort in the beginning .... but, it pays off in the long run!
Great idea!! I've wrapped pressies for quilting friends in pretty Christmas fabric but never made the drawstring bags for gifts. My children had Christmas bags from white net curtains with red drawstrings - I still have them, but I like the idea of giving pressies to friends and adults in gift bags. Everyone can use drawstring bags and monogram fonts on the plainer fabrics would make them so special. Thanks for the towards a greener Christmas and useful wrapping.
Thank you for your comments! When I first started doing this - I wasn't into Machine Embroidery, but now, that is my next step!!!
Such a cute idea. I have bought gift bags so my DH and sons could wrap my presents. But I will be picking up fabric on sale from now on.
I am happy you are going to try this!! They are easy to make and being able to reuse them each years is great! 4U*
Laura, these are lovely - what a wonderful idea - I think this is such a super idea - how much fun you and your family must have each year, too. Way to go - 'go green'! *4U
