I need to know if I can use ribbon as my applique material? It is the only "fabric" I have handy. Oh and what type of needle is best for the ribbon? Thanks everyone so much for your time and patience!

There is no need to apologise, asking questions is the way to learn and most of us are still learning. I know I am. Happy sewing

What type of ribbon do you have? Are you going to be washing the item? If so, the ribbon should also be machine washable. If it is satin, use a ball point so that it will go between the woven fibers and not cut them. If it is Grosgrain, I'd reccommend a sharp needle. I embroider names on ribbons and school logos.
