best friend? YESTERDAY.

I was about six hours into a 120,000+ stitch design for a very special person. The design did not show proper colors so I was substituting what I felt was right as I changed threads. As you know, sometimes it is difficult to anticipate what will be stitched in what order and I failed to catch the fact that I had used a very inappropriate color for one area. That is, until it was completely stitched.

I decided to remove the color and resew. I picked up a new ripper and turned the design over to cut the bobbin thread. About that time my telephone rang, I jumped, and stabbed the sew-out, ripping about a 3/4 inch long hole right through a critical part of the design.

I cried, I sobbed, I went through quite a few tissues. I patched from the back, but the cut is still very obvious on the front. Back to the sewing machine. I need to take the telephone out of the sewing room, for sure, for sure. Oh, and put a box of tissues on my shopping list.

how about when you work on something with a time limit and you get down to the last part..the thread catches and bunches pulling the material out of the hoop...oh yes been ther and done that....had to redo the whole darn border over again...couldn't line it up for the life of me...cry, well of course, got mad and angry then sat my but down and restarted the whole thing over again....but I think I like it better the second time around...hehehe...hope u r feeling better now....deanna

Oh how tragic! Were you able to salvage the piece. It is always so frustrating when mistakes like this happen. I hope there is something you can do with it. Hugs, Mary

A couple of days without sewing - the steam from my ears (eyes) has stopped. I was going to finish stitching out my design but decided I'll just start over. This time I do have a pretty good idea of the correct colors and where the next stitches start with each color change.

For asterixsew - I already had over 6 hours in the sewing - that included time spent changing colors and winding bobbins. There are 45 color changes in this design. I would say I had less than an hour to go before finishing.

Sandy, I'm so sorry that happened to you...
Last year, I embroidered one design from a popular website, and it was very poorly digitized, the stitches jumped all around the design and was making lumps on the bottom, it ruined an expensive bath towel, as I coulndt removed the stitches. I cut the ruined part and using the towel myself. Yes, I felt like you are feeling now.
I hope you still can save your item.
a big hug for you!

Not sure about the crying but sorry to hear about the 'unplanned' hole. Please can I ask how long it takes to sew 120,000 stitches, dont think I have been beyond about 70,000 to 80,000. Good Luck with the next project

Sandy, I am so sorry this happened to you - how did the item turn out? I do hope that you used extra stabilizer where you had the rip, too? *4U

Sorry that you cut your design - well now that you have had a good cry, sit and re-do it and then you are going to be very pleased with yourself that you redid it. As you were not 100 per cent satisfied with the old one.
(As they say , things happen for a reason - Hugs Yvonne

I am so sorry this happened to you. I think I woulda have had a temper tantrum and my machine may have been in danger. I am glad only a tissue box is on your shopping list.

My heart breaks for you - what an awful predicament. I can only hope you can redo this. It was obviously not meant to be on the original one. Good luck with the next one.

Love and blessings Chris

Sending you a big bear hug!

sorry to hear that as i keep the phone in my sewing room but i turn the ringer down low as it also will make me jump maybe it was to be as you said you put the wrong color in maybe that is why the phone rang and you cut a small hole in it it would have been worse to take out the stiches so in the long run you will end up with a much better picture thats the way i would look at it but yes i would cry like a baby good luck with the next one
