The machine constantly stops during embroidery and even regular stitching. I have taken it in for service but was told there was nothing wrong with it. There is something wrong with it! Please let me know if others are having the same problem and if you were able to have the problem corrected. Thank you.

I have a D1 and always use the Q foot and the single hole stitching plate for embroidery.

I find this stops having any problem with fabric or stabilizer getting sucked down into the bobbin area and thread jaming up in the bobbin area.

I usually use a size 12 Embroidery needle for all my embroidery except when using metallic thread then I use a metallic needle size 12.

I am curious to know if those that own the Diamond machine use the Q foot and single hole plate for Embroidery?

When thread shreds it is usually a dull needle, wrong size needle, or a rough spot on the stitch plate of machine foot and also could be a rough spot on the spool that the thread is on and the thread gets caught on it also a bobbin that is not wound right can cause upper thread breaks or rough spots in the bobbin area or bobbin hook.

Make sure to clean the bobbin tension disk out by flossing it back and forth with a piece of thread and clean the top thread tensiuon disk with a folded dollar bill to get any thread bits out and lint our of the tensions.
Clean your machine often and change needles often.

If lettering is small try a 60 weight embroidery thread and an small needle - size 10.

Try embroidering at a slower speed to see if that helps with thread breaks and thread shredding.

Check the bobbin and bobbin areas for any rough spots that could cause the thread to shred.

Keep the bobbin sensor clean free of lint in the bobbin area.

Wind your bobbins at a slower speed especially if using polyester thread as it stretches when wound at a high speed.

Have your dealer check the needle allignment as it could be off center.

That all I can suggest for now! LOL
Good luck in solving your problems!!

i have a SE and love it, but it was made in Sweden. the new machines are made in china and the quality is not good. thay save money, we pay more for poor work and thay get a bigger profit. i would buy another SE, but not the others, check where any machine is made first

I have been having intermittent problems with the machine stopping with no error message. I usually look at the bobbin first, because if it's close to empty and hasn't wound in a way that the sensor sees the thread (not sure how the "read" works) a new bobbin seems to fix the problem. Also, in case you haven't heard, there is a major software upgrade available and my dealer is asking everyone to install the upgrade. It changes the way the screen looks, has new icons and fixes so read the documents that come with it. There is a problem (an irritant but not a "show-stopper") on the sewing side of the upgrade but not the embroidery. The company is working on the problem.

Whoa, am I ever glad I went for a Bernina - here in my town there aren't even service agents for the Hussy!

Good question (I have a Viking, but not a Diamond) and thanks for asking / answers. May be valuable for all models even though this was an older question. (From 2009) Another *4U

I have a diamond and am having so much trouble I want to get rid of it. The thread keeps shedding up the needle no matter what I try. the dealer had it for 6 months trying to fix it, they did lend me one but that's not the point. After returning I did one design very well now it wants to shred every 200 or so stitches on embroidery. I have cleaned it changed needles threads, everything. I have now rung the head office. I bet nothing happens.
I could not recommend buying a hussy diamond to anyone.

Sorry about the problems with your machine. I had a similar experience with a Bernina and wrote a polite but very firm letter of what I expected them to do (replace the machine) to their headquarters, stating that I had sent a copy of the letter to our attorney. Within days, they called the dealer and after finding out that I had been a loyal customer, knowledgable about sewing, etc. they told her to call me immediately and give me a new machine that day! You might try something similar. for other reasons I have switched to Viking machines and have had no problems with them but we do have a wonderful dealer where I now live. Good luck!

Yes. I am having the same problem. In fact, I'm told it's me every time. I'm the problem not the machine. Today I was outlining text. There were 12 letters totalled. The last three the machine would not outline. I didn't touch a thing to make that happen. I tried recalibrating, re-auto-saving and now the stiches (bobbin and needle) will not make a stitch. When I called my distributor I was told it was me.

I don't have the diamond but just rcently bought the Ruby. Within a couples of weeks started having problems when doing a multiple of letters. It would constantly give me the message to remove threads from under the bobbin case. I spoke with my dealer and was told that the sensor from thread cutting is probably oversensitive and that viking may have to do a recall. Spoke with my dealer again
today because now it is doing this almost all the time (extremely annoying and time consuming because I am constantly removing my hoop to clear threads) and they told me to bring it in and that it probably just requires an adjustement on the sensor. Hope it works.

Hi: Yes, I had the exact problem. Mine was because the upper thread was wrapping around the bar that is in the bobbin area. It was corrected by a cutter adjustment. Hope that helps

I have a Brother ULT and get that also. Is your thread unraveling, shredding or breaking? It may be the plate has burrs, or that the upper tension is not set properly. I know we have different machines, but sometimes the problems are the same. Good luck!

I had this problem with my Pfaff Creative Vision and kept feeling that if there was a crook on the thread uptake it would solve the problem. Said something to my dealer and he said that Pfaff had a replacement leaver that he could put on at Pfaff's expense and did so. This stoped the problem. Your Husquvarna probably has the same upgrade as Pfaff & Husky are sister companies. You may have to wate for the replacement part to be shipped to you dealer. If you dealer won't or can't fix it you might want to contact Husquvarna and let them know what their dealer is doing and see if they can give you any satisfaction.

I had my embroidery foot changed - the dealer gave me the wrong one.
New question: My needle threader doesn't seem to line up anymore to the needle - I have changed the needle and the thread just doesn't go through the eye anymore. I was working perfectly previously. Does the threader need to be oiled or anything like that?

The dealer did something to it to make it just a bit out of line. OR the threader got bent. That can happen. speak to them about it. Depending on the machine, there's a tiny little wire and it can become bent. If it worked before, it should work now!

I don't have a Diamond but do have a Designer 1.

Many of us Designer 1 owners found that polyester thread tends to run faster throught the top thread tension disk. some found they had thread looping on the top of the design too.

Also many Designer 1 users found that the top thread jumped out of the hook of the take up lever when the stitching of the design changed directions and also when stitching at top speed on the machine.

This caused the thread to nest under the needle plate.

So to solve both these problems we all learned to thread the hook on the uptake lever from left to right instead of the normal right to left when using polyester thread.

Also we learned that it might be better to slow the machine down just abit when embroidering with polyester thread.

It works and should work on the Diamond too.

Sorry, I just noticed you already gave the same advice. I should learn to read the other answers before I start typing. :-)

I am so glad to hear of the problems. That just saved me from buying a Diamond. I have to "old" rose and the customer service is horrible with them. I don't recommend trying to contact them but home you have a great dealer. Good luck.

I have a Diamond & an SE. That has been an ongoing problem. How new is the machine? I can assure you unless you have a GREAT dealer, you will NOT get that takeup lever replaced! And, no, Viking will not send the TINY little cheap clip free of charge to you for the older takeup levers! The things I have tried & SEEM to work right now are...change type of thread (mine, too, seems to do well with Sulky); thread like Meganne (post below) says went you put the thread in the take up lever; slow the machine down (especially during long satin stitches); always change your needle often as everyone suggests; rethread needle AND bobbin; turn off that jump stitch cutter! I wish Viking would pay attention to our complaints, but they are profit driven now, forget service. I love my Viking machines, but do not reccommend a Viking anymore due to the poor service & more problems. ALSO check out that warrenty..it's not the same anymore! VIKING, ARE YOU LISTENING TO US!!? (no)

You need to have the uplift leaver replaced. They put these machines out to fast and as usual most of us can't wait until all the bugs are worked out before we buy them. I had the same trouble with mine. The dealer will have to replace at no charge so just keep after your dealer

There is a problem with my diamond also. The thread nest under the hoop, the machine completly stops and I get the message machine overload. I do not think mine is picking up the bobbin thread everytime even in regular sewing. I am always getting messages to check thread or needle. I have spoken to repairman several times. No help there.

Your takeup lever needs to be replaced & the dealer can replace it with no charge. It took me almost 2 years to get mine replaced. My friends was the same way. Just keep after your dealer

Yes,I got one of the first machines and have all kinds of trouble. Never had problems with my D1 wish i had it back. If enough of us raise cane about the problems maybe they will do something. We have to much money tied up the these machine

Oh Joan, I am really sorry to hear of all the problems. I thought the Diamond was suppose to be an awsome machine. I have a Babylock, and when I get that message it means something is wrong with the top thread. I just need to rethread and all is well. Wish i was able to help you. Good luck. H&*

I had the problem with the thread jumping out of the take-up lever, someone tol me to thread it from left to right instead of from right to left.

Don't be horrified, it works! No more jumping threads, just a minor tension adjustment to make up for the increased firmness.

Another thing you may wish to try is to put your thread through the little (bobbin winder) tension discs at the top of the machine.

joanhsam, are you still having problems with your Diamond? I have just recently noticed that I get the message if I have changed thread color and failed to clip the bobbin thread underneath my design. If I remember to remove the hoop and clip the thread at each color change I don't get that error message.

Sure hope this helps,
Sandy

I have a new Diamond Designer and was getting the message all the time. Changed to a larger needle and haven't seen the message since.

Also I've found it does not like polyester thread that isn't a 'name' brand . . . loves Sulky and Gutterman.

Use BOBBIN thread in the bobbin - it doesn't like embroidery thread there, either.

2182
by gerryb 22 Nov 2009

Yes. And it's usually the thread has "jumped" out of the thread takeup lever. The newest Diamonds have a little clip added to that level. BUT the way I understand it, we "older" owners will not be given the upgrade. Do you have a newer one with the clip? I had THREE thread nests in a 9000 stitch file other day. I changed the type of thread and haven't had the problem. MAYBE try that. My machine seems to like Sulky. I was using a very large cone of Poly X-10 thread that was making a mess. Haven't had the problem with regular sewing, just embroidery. You may also try putting your thread to the RIGHT side of the tension disk...you can use either side. If you use the right one already, try changing to the left. I think the new machines are so computer driven, etc. that they are very touchy!! Let us know if any of this works. You can PM me if you want any more suggestions.

We were doing a Diamond project last week and several of the girls were having that problem. One of the girls had a nick in the foot she was using, one needed a different needle ( a sharper one) and they both changed the way the thread was feeding. After a little fooling around they both got their machines working just fine. JoAnn

I just started getting continuous thread nests after owning my Diamond 3 years in July. The thread gets caught in the stitch plate and I have to pry it lose with the screw driver. I can stitch for about 3,000 stitches and then the nesting starts.
