I can relate to Fibromyalgia. I am 57 and have had this for years before they new what to call it. I also have restless legs. The meds I take really make a huge difference. I do hope that your daughter will seek good medical advice.

getting the right medical advice will make all the difference but some doctors are just too busy too care. lets hope she finds a good one. Hope you are feeling better and not suffering too much pain.

There are new drugs on the market now for R. A. If u don't have S.E. from them they help. Lyrica is usually the drug of choice for the Fibro. I have no one in my fmly with these now but had an aunt with the R.A. she pssed away 30 yrs. ago & they didn't have a lot for it. Back then, hot whirlpool bath everyday got her limbered up enough to work. She was spvr. over the lab at the hosp. they also gave her injections of gold. She would call them her gold shots. I don't believe they do that anymore. they would also have her drink a little wine everyday. They have come a long way with medical knowledge in this field & Fibromyalgia wasn't even known back then. I hope your daughter can get all the help she needs. A lot of the big hospitals have research going on with these & if she could get in one of those groups all her meds would be free. The only thing is you are a guinea pig but they do take good care of you. *

I am sorry to hear of your daughters illness. She is very young to have to live with rheumatiod arthritis and fibromyalgia. Hopefully they will give her meds that can help relieve her pain and let her lead a fairly normal life. I will keep her in my prayers.

I have 2 daughters with Fibro. One of them, she is 40, does without pain meds put has to take an antidepressant. She has a 14 and a 11 year old girls. One of my youngest (36 and a twin) is on 2 kinds of meds. Apparently it is really important to get a good night sleep. Exercise seems to help. She has no children and manages fairly well. It took some time for her to find the right meds and dose. If you want I could find out what meds she is on. send me a pm if you want that info.

Thank you I will pm you because sometimes you have to ask doctors about some meds
She does like to take the baby for a walk but the doctors say not to walk because of the arthritis. They suggest swimming but very hard with a small child.

marjialexa by marjialexa 23 Oct 2009

I'm no MD, but I'd sure get a second opinion on that walking! I know RA can damage joints, but walking (NOT jogging) with good shoes, and not until you're exhausted, will keep the joint fluids lubricating those joints. When you don't keep moving, you stiffen up like cardboard! Swimming would be good, too, if she could find a warm pool and take the little one swimming, too. Kids should learn to swim anyway. Even being in the pool would take weight off the joints. Good luck, this is a tough diagnosis. Hugs, Marji

please tell her if she is using any diet stuff, like cooldrink, yogurt or diet sugars she must stop. Feel so sorry for her more and more people are diagnosed with this. Will advise her to take good Omega 3. hope she will be fine

My DIL has Fibro. She's 30yrs old and has 3 kids, 6,4, and 2. She was diagnosed just before she got pregnant with the youngest. She has good days and bad. She's not taking any medication for it yet. She says fresh air and exercise actually help her to feel better. When she doesn't excercise it gets worse.

IO hope that she can manage with just exercise so she doesn't get hooked on painkillers.

Sorry to hear about your Fibromyalgia. I will tell her about the cymbalta. She will go to the specialist soon but you have got to have all the information before you go so you can ask questions
