pedicure and manicure and while waiting we had each others company and enjoyed some lovely champagne and some beautiful nibbles. After 5 hours and everyone was relaxed and looking lovely we headed off for dinner where some more Ladies joined us. Dinner was at an Italian Restaurant, some there were pizzas and pasta to enjoy. Everyone put in for a beautiful pair of earrings for Renee to wear on her day, and then while she was in the "Ladies"room we all wrote a special message on cards and sealed them in envelopes, these were then put into a box and left on her doorstep for Renee to get a little teary. These will be such a keepsake for her. And at the moment I am in the middle of making a Wedding Dress for Renee, as the one she ordered hasn't arrived yet, and she and Chris leave for Tuscany in 3 Days, so do you think I willl be burning the candle at both ends, good fun though.

Hi Ladies, it was lovely to read your comments and memories. The dress went well the first day, along with a bottle of wine, to relax me as I was stressing out a little, I then moved ahead and the dress went together well. Then the fittings, well now after 2 fittings and today the last day before they leave, I sort of have to alter the dress!!!! Yes, burning the candle at both ends, but the adjustments actually look alot better.
Love , Sheryl

I made our daughters wedding dress and she picked out three different patterns, sleeves from one etc. I sewed 3000 pearls and 1500 sequins on the bodice. She so much loved the dress, it was worth all the hours of work. Always said I was glad we only had one girl, because I don't know if I could do it all over. That was 20 yrs. ago, and they are still very happy. Also did her cake and flowers. Was young back then!! God Bless, Judy

Sounds like your hands are full right now but you are probably enjoying every minute. I made (1) wedding dress in my life for my best friend many years ago. I had not been married too long myself. She was older that I was and had 3 children and simply could not afford to buy a dress. I bought the pattern, material and made it for her. She would not even pick it out. She told me to do it and it would be more special than ever. She was very pleased with it and it fit perfect! It was a very pale ,pale green and she had firey red hair. It was not a long flowing dress but it was a very pretty wedding dress. I do think I surprised her because she was expecting just a nice dress or a suit. I'm not so sure she appreciated it years later. I could never tell and she would not tell but he changed after they got married. I lost touch with her a long time ago. The last I heard she was in the orange groves in Fl. The last time I saw her she was living in Macon, Ga. That has been almost 40 years ago. I have no idea if she is still alive. I am 62 and she was about 15 yrs older than me. She had some hard times after her 1st husband just up and left not to be seen again. He was gone for a long time and I finally talked her into getting a divorce. She had no idea if he was even alive until she started divorce proceedings. I met her when I got my first job and we became friends the day we met. Good luck with the dress and the wedding. I hope everything goes just perfect. The dress will probably show up as soon as you finish the one you are making. That would be my luck! No matter, it will give her something to tell her grandchildren about. It will be a day of joy no matter how many little things do not go as planned. My son's and his wife's was planned on a prayer, a dime, a couple of weeks and my catering and everything went just wonderful! I could not move for a week but it was worth it. I did everything but the Wedding Cake and I chickened out on it! I did do the Groom's Cake because he would have nothing but my Red Velvet Cake. I had more compliments on that catering than any I did in my 25 yrs of managing a restaurant and being told what the party wanted!. If I could have walked, I would have been strutting! They went on their honeymoon and I went to bed for three days. Tell Renee that I hope the wedding is beautiful and that she will be happy for the rest of her life!
