little teeth inside the metal sleeve fell of into my hand. Now I can't use my software and of course I have all of my holiday projects designed but not down loaded! So the Christmas Express has come to a halt!!! I called the dealer here and he told me it would be about 4-6 months before I could get one if they have any left there is a back log because they don't support the 3D since they came out with 4D. Oh and the price is $300.00 to $400.00. I can get the basic package for 4D for $399.00 if we had that kind of money. If anyone knows where I might get a dongle or a way to fif this problem please let me know. The NMM is Depressed. If you have 4D what all did you have to have to start using it?

Your 4D OR 3D organizer will work without the dongle. You just cant put them into 4D Embroidery without the dongle. Try to copy and paste from 4D organizer. Let us know if this helps

Oh me! Have you checked ebay? Never know! I'll check artistic thread works for you. But don't hold out much hope. I have my dongle in a little thing that is sorta a go between..you don't have to put the dongle out, just the piece it's in that goes into the USB port in the computer. Hopefully that will keep it safe. Try that if you can find a new one. I do put it in the back of the computer & leave it there. But with my computer demise, I have to use a laptop & am afraid I'll knock it out of that! Good luck!

I have just read everyones comments on your very sad question. My original suggestion was to go the headquarters of your country, but then I read that the dongle is no longer made. Second thought is still to contact them and say NEXT time I buy it wont be from them as you are a dissatisfied customer or what is their solution to the problem. I do know of a dongle that was chucked in the bin - by accident...

I am so very sorry!! I guess I have one more reason to be glad that I accidentally got a Janome instead of a Viking. If I break my Digitizer Pro dongle, it can be replaced, probably for a small charge, but not $400!! Might as well buy Embird, that's what I'd do if I were you. Can't say as I'd bother to buy Viking again, if they don't support their programs. I know they came out with a new one, but if you can't afford to upgrade, why can't you keep using the old one? How much can it possibly cost them to make some usb dongles? All it is is a little jump drive with some programming on it that lets you into your software, geez! Gotta love these companies. Hugs to you, Marji

I am soooo sorry about your Dongle, I had problems with mine and was told to put it in one of the back USB's and leave it there! I did! No more problems since! Hope you get back on track real soon! With Christmas coming, I really feel for you! Hugs and a *

Oh my, I'm afraid I can't help but I would like to know what you were doing with your Dongle at 2am. Just kidding I have been known to stitch all night if I'm on a tight deadline. I hope you can find a solution that's not too dear. I was told when I purchased my 2170 and 4D Suite to guard the dongle with my life because a replacement would run about $500.

So fragile but so expensive. I was designing at 2am because My legs and feet were cramping and I couldn't lay still in bed.

I do the same when I can't sleep. DH has a fit but it's way more productive than tossing and turning.

Sorry to hear about your problem. About a year ago, during a power failure, my dongle was damaged and I even contacted Husqvarna directly and I still could not get it fixed or anything. It is not available anymore. Since then I cannot use my Professional Plus program at all and had to revert to the first Husq program and digitizing is out for me. The cost of a new program is too high for me and since I still have the Orchidea am way too far behind in everything. Pensioner --- no money. etc. etc. I know your frustration and give a very big hug and a *.

Is the program you have 3D Studio or 3D professional? If you can get to the designs through 3D Organiser then I maybe able help you. What is your machine format? How do you transfer the designs to your machine? My private email is kazbygosh@optusnet.com.au

Sorry to hear your dongle broke down completely (oh no, that's a contradiction - it broke down and is far from complete). It's a rip-off to have to pay so much for a new dongle. I understood that you could get a new one faitly cheap IF you returned the pieces of the old one. Can't you contact Viking yourself - without going through the dealer?

They no longer make them and there is a back log of over 500 peopl ewaiying for one.

nonmusicmom by nonmusicmom 29 Sep 2009

If I could get one it would cost 2 - 4 hundred dollars.

So sorry to hear of your dilemma. Did you know that you can access Organiser in your 3D program without your dongle. Give it a try you may still be able to download your Christmas designs if they are ready to go. You won't be able to access your other parts of the program. Hope this helps. It works on my 3D program.

Same applies to me: 3D Organiser does not need a dongle to work.

nonmusicmom by nonmusicmom 29 Sep 2009

That is worth a try. I didn't know this. THANKS

Try to put it together again, I have done so and I now have it in another fitting that slots into my PC so that I do not ever need to take it out by itself as I have the software on 2 computers and can swop this way. Hope you succeed, but do try !!!!

I also once bought a new dongle some years ago and the cost was something like £50-00 about $70.00

nonmusicmom by nonmusicmom 29 Sep 2009

No dongles to be had. I called everywhere. But when we can we will up grade my software.
