to the point where it isn't locked in (does that make sense?). 2) Does anyone have an idea if there is a licensed version of anything Maxine related (Shoebox Greetings from Hallmark)? I'm going to try a search, but on the off-chance you know . . .

and 3) has anyone tried to make an embroidered mousepad? Any comments and or suggestions?

emblibrary has a tutorial on mousepad embroidery. In fact almost anything you can embroider on they have a tutorial for. The free video tutorials are great also.

Tanks!!!!! . . . umm, Thank you!! I'll try them out. I've been wanting to watch the videos but it seems that by the time I get around to sit at the computer it takes a couple hours or more just to catch up on e-mails, etc, and read notes at my favorite sites and groups. I gotta stop this addiction!!!

I thought the same thing but I kept seeing some comments here and there about it. I did do a search and found one that someone had posted someplace and I wasn't all that impressed . . . after all, how in would it allow your mouse balls to roll around?

What kind of thread are you using, Sandy? By 'locked' you mean wound under other threads to keep it on the spool, right? Pull on the end, see where it comes out from those other threads, and take a pin or needle and pull that part of the thread out from under, then you should be ok. I use RA and Isacord and some Floriani, never had it locked like that. Hugs, Marji

You got the idea. The thread I bought from DICK has the end tucked under about 50 rows (exaggeration) of thread. I can find the end okay, and often can find the piece where it begins to tunnel through, but about 90% of the time it isn't that easy. Last night it took about 10 minutes to find the thread so I could lift it out. I was close to throwing the whole spool in the trash but I am so 2#$@%^^ determined sometimes.

And, NO, I won't buy their thread again - ANYONE WANT A GOOD DEAL ON SOME OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY IN ARIZONA?????????

Did you mean SiCK, Sandy? I was thinking of that thread, and heard a lot of people say they like it. Wonder if you got a bad batch? Did you write to them and tell them, they're usually good about getting back to you. Maybe there's some trick to it? I don't think I've ever run into thread locked by THAT many rows, even if you exaggerated by double, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji

This afternoon I was having lunch with one of my granddaughters and it hit me that I had said DICK instead of SICK - I did say I needed to get some sleep, I think.

I haven't contacted them - I actually just thought it was typical for all thread.

marjialexa by marjialexa 24 Sep 2009

No, it's not typical, Sandy. The RA and Isacord have the little snap lock bottoms to hold those thread tails, so they're not locked at all. Floriani has a little groove the thread is in, like your regular sewing thread has. I'm not sure what Metro has, I haven't gotten any of that yet. And do contact SiCK, they need to know this is happening, for one thing. Rob (as in Robin, a woman) will usually get back to you right away. Put your problem in the subject line, like "problem with SiCK thread spools". Hugs, Marji

Sandy, I have no clue on the lead thread - here is a link to the Maxine's - you will love them and I have never tried an embroidered mousepad. *4U

Shirlene, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Everybody, go here, and see what a legitimate licensed design page should look like. And also notice the prices. When you see these things free, they ain't legal! Hugs, Marji

Isn't that the truth? I can't believe how many designs I downloaded in the early days just because they were 'free' and I've been sorely disappointed when I sewed them out. I was blaming my technique until I found some great sites and started paying for designs. What a difference. And then I tried some digitizing on my own and quickly found it is NOT my cup of tea. I truly don't have the patience for that type thing. But, it does lead one to appreciate the effort that goes into a wonderful design. I don't mind at all paying for quality.

Shirlene - Thanks for the link. I did find that Dakota Collections has Maxine also. Whoops - that's where you link goes . . . me with red face (-: :-)
