Elegia, I have Digitizer Pro, but I got this tip from an Embird tutorial. The principal is the same with all digitizers.Do 4 layers of your normal weave fill, without underlay. Do the stitches 3mm apart and in layers of 0,45,90 and 135 degrees. This gives it a nice solid base for any other stitches you want to put on top, or you can leave it just like that. When you do the outline, use the satin stitch just inside the fill stitch about .08 mm wide with edge run stitch and 2 rows of zig zag underlay.
When you have mastered that, you can play with different ideas, but you must remember that all the stitches need to overlap.
Another tip when you do the outline, overlap the beginning and end a bit. This gives it a neat continuous look.

Elegia,
I know how to digitize lace with embird. I dont know about 4D. You have to create layers, like Mops wrote, in different angles so the piece wont fall apart.
The lace alphabet I loaded in 'design by cuties' was made with embird, and used +45 degrees for the first layer, -45 degress for the second layer and 0 for the 3rd layer. I used normal fill in all layers, but low density.
I hope this helps.
Hugs,
Yoriko

I have 3D Pro and don't know how to do it other than design a lines pattern or use a filling stitch at very low density, and repeat that 2 or 3 times at different angles, say 0, 45, 90 and 135 degrees, or 0, 120 and 240. In Embird you can change filling stitches so that they overlap slightly and thus prevent them falling apart after washing. I haven't a clue how to do that in 3D.
