Wow, love the updated version! Great work, everyone involved with this!!
I know that I did not have a hand in this but I think the darker border and the lighter sashing looks better. All of you have done such a beautiful job on this! I wish I had gotten my act together and sent in a square. Every square that I saw was a work of art. It has turned out to be just beautiful! I have never done a quilt and probably never will. It is something I have never been interested in trying but I have seen some beautiful ones. My hats are off to all of you who are involved in this one! You deserve alot more flowers and thank you's than you will ever get although we will all try to show you how lovely we think it is! It looks like a labor of love! Kudos to each and everyone involved!
No probs, Megs.
Is this what you had in mind?
Not quite but close. sorry. love the sash and border.
OK, counting down we have 8 rows
counting across we have columns A to E.
Row 7 column A flower swap with row 2 column A.
Row 2 column D beige block swap with row 1 column E (top right corner)
row 8 column B (beige block) swap with row 8 column A.
row 4, column A (love design) swap with row 8 column C then it will comliment the "Friends" block at the top centre.
Mind you, as I said it's really difficult to tell on the screen and quilters such as Chris Pennifold, Pauline Nonna, Barb, quilting grandma, etc. might have even better suggestions, but I really do like the lighter sashing and dark border.
What do you think?
Oh and the professional quilter putting it all together may even have better ideas.
Your a real Champ Ricky, Hugs n love, M
Do we have any other birdhouses? If not, maybe our only birdhouse could be placed centrally in between birds and butterflys
Megs, I have been doing patchwork for about 15 years and I happen to agree with you about the colours of the sashing and border.
I didn't worry too much about the placement of the blocks because they were photographs and the colours of the background fabrics aren't true.
To get an accurate look, I would have had to have the embroidery files, then inserted them on the background fabric in EQ6. But that was not possible because I did not have them.
I should also have scanned the fabric swatches into EQ6 to see what it looks like with the fabrics that are being used.
But I think this gives everyone some idea.
Yep i like the placement this way too. Thanks heaps all round to all for this . I love it.
Just a question or two please.....where are you going to want to put "THE NAME BLOCK"...the block "FRIENDS" is not a block, but words for the sashing (unless you guys don't want to put the words gathered around it....
Understood Ricky. It's as I suspected, very difficult working just with photo's, you can never be sure of colour accuracy. Thanks so much for doing this.
I've never even done a quilt just lots of computer graphics and design, photography, advertising copy, interior design and basically working with colours. I love colour co-ordination and I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to uniformity hence my desire to see, what appears to be, similar colours separated and spread out in more complimentary positions. But the whole thing could change anyway once the professional quilter gets the designs. LOL!!!
anyway, I think the recipient will be over the moon with the end result regardless of where the blocks are placed.
Hugs n much love and appreciation, M
This is going to be the coolest!!!!! Thanks for giving us an idea on how it will look!
This is the revised version with the rest of the blocks inserted. I don't know how many more blocks there are.
I also don't know how many word blocks there are but if there are more then the one I got, they can be put on the border, or another border can be inserted, just for the words. The one I got, "Friends" I put in the top row, middle block.
Hey Ricky, how difficult is it to play with the block positions???
I would like to see lighter coloured sashing areound the blocks and green for the border, just to compare and see if the blocks stand out more.
I would also like to see the two diagonally opposite (noticeable) beige blocks in the bottom left corner separated and placed in diagonally opposite corner positions. (top right and bottom left)
And the really white block, (with the same floral design as block two rows underneath it) moved to the top left corner so it is opposite the chimney bear white block in bottom right corner.
Also, I would like to see the two yellow flowers, 2nd row - D & E, separated, I would move flower position D to position A in the same row.
Just curious if these changes would add greater balance?
Mind you, I understand it is difficult to actually see exactly how well it all fits together as we are looking at lots of different pictures and not the actual blocks, so forgive me if i'm not seeing it as good as it actually is.
Hugs n love, M
Absollutely gorgeous! You did great work! I wouldn't change a thing.
thank you...I just sent that over....more blocks have come in since this was lovingly done.....
Just 1 question...where will the wording be???that was requested?
Stunning! Beautiful! Do not change a thing! Thank you so much for sharing what the quilt will look like.
This looks fantastic Ricky - can't wait to see the final project completed. Love and blessings Chris
OOPSSS!!!!!! Forgot to put the binding on it. This is better.
It is lovely, I would change the 3 bright green blocks to a colour that blends with the rest as they draw your eye to them & away from the rest. leave them if this is what u want. this is my thoughts, the rest is stunning
You're right about the bright green blocks, but there are more embroidered blocks to come, I think, so they can be inserted in there.
You did a fantastic job!!
There are only 37 squares? I thought there would be more.
Oh, my word, it's gorgeous!!! What kind of a program are you doing this in? Oh, a dangling participle, hee hee hee. Is this the program they call Electronic Quilt? EQ for short? I'm jealous. I think it's perfect, wouldn't change a thing! Hugs, Marji
I have this programme too Marji - EQ5 it is fabulous.
Love and blessings Chris
Yes, I started with EQ5 and got the EQ6 upgrade. The tracing tool in the EQ6 is so easy to use
Forgot to tell you, Chris. With the EQ6 you can import your own embroidery designs, not just the ones that came with the programme. So you can actually place your personal embroidery designs on the block, rather then the photo of the embroidered block.
I was wondering how you did that. What a great concept. Looks like I'll have to update! He he he!
It's gorgeous. Love Chris
With this quilt I used the photos because I did not have the embroidery designs. You need the actual design.
You have still done a wonderful job - I am sure it will be gorgeous once finished. Thanks love chris
You girls are going to get me yet!! I don't need another program, I don't need another program, I'm chanting the mantra, I don't need another program...how much is it? Hee hee hee, Hugs, M
Wow, that Quilt turned out beautyfull, i am sure she will treasure that.
Well it looks stunning, wish I could be a fly on the wall when she receives this - well done to all.
Ricky thanks so much for sharing with us all - Hugs Yvonne
DO NOT change a thing!!! I wish we could have a web cam presentation!!!
It is beautiful and I would not change a thing. I am so sorry that I did not get to do mine, things with Mom have gotten harder to handle and I haven't had my machine up and running for 2 months now. Her test two weeks ago were not good, only the chemo is keeping her alive and even with that the cancer is still spreading, just at a slower pace. The tumor is now on the L5 and L4 vertabra and the left leg is almost useless. Bone detearation has spread also. We know that time is not on our side, but just pray that she stays out of pain, thus we continue the chemo. I am so proud of the work that the rest of you did and know that she will be proud to get it. Prayers and many of God's blessings to each and every one of you and to her.
It looks very very nice. I do not think any changes need to be made.
Thanks for showing us what it might look like! It looks really good. :) I still haven't sent mine. I haven't been able too, but I think I will be able to send it this week.
Are these all that have arrived?
It's absolutely Beautiful! YOu have done an amazing job putting this together!
OH MY GOSH!!!! --- IT'S BEAUTIFUL...so much love.
Here it is.I even put in a few quilting stencils just to make it look more complete.I tried the cream for the border but it looked a bit washed out, so I used a tan tone-on-tone just to give you an idea.
Wonderful programme you have, it gives such a complete impression of what can be achieved!
Ricky wow it looks marvelous, no need to change a thing. Gave me a big smile.
