Opps its me again! I am set to buy this http://www.oregonpatchworks.com/i...

but I am not sure if i should buy 4x4 or the last set at $40 with 4x4,5x5 n 6x6

My machine is Janome Memory Craft 9700 and max hoop is 5x7.

My Qn or doubt is that, Memory craft has this function to maximize/minimize by 10%, up to 120%. Should I buy the last set or I should just rely on my machine built in function to increase/decrease the size?

The most important enquiry is ==> Does it matter in the final sew out etc between a fixed 5x5 design and one that I increase with my machine from 4x4 to roughly 5x5??

Pls advise. Thanks

I am not sure if I understand your question but I use the square hoop the most and I use the rectangle but I also use the Macro now this is a divine hoop and it is so easy to use...and you can do your own designs in your software and the machine just gets it automatically I did one the other day...the 4 x 4 is pretty small if you have it go for the biggest ones.....see if your machine can take the Macro I have a Janome 11000 Cricket17

Hi I have the Janome 11000 becareful when it comes to decreasing and increasing sizes of patterns. YOu can end up with stitches too thick or too thin..there is also a Mega or Macro Hoop for the Janome....you may want to check that out to see if your machine can take it. the 6 x 6 size may be an issue it seems to me I have problems with that size 4x4 is safe and that is the standard hoop. 5 x 5 or the square hoop is probably the safest bet..I clicked on the link for OPw but it does not show the pattern can you convert okay from the formats shown? not sure if I have helped you at all ask more if not cricket17.....

I usually go with the 4x4 . I have a janome 3ooe. I enlage it to suit, Most times especially R/W i sew more than once. Did you know that you can enlarge more than 120%. Go thru all the steps to enlage , ok it etc. Then do the same process again till you are happy with it. Aways remember Enlarging leaves gaps or bigger stitches. All trial & error. Hope this helps :)

I agree with Deb, Eve. I would get the 4x4 and increase it, because these bullion roses would be too dense if you reduced the 5x5. You should be able to increase by 20% with no problem.

I am assuming you can only afford to buy one set and would like both the 4X4 and 5X5 (the other sizes will not work in your machine.) I'm also assuming you do not have any digitizing software.

If so, buy the 4X4. If you enlarge the 4X4, the design will stitch out less dense than the original design. However, if you buy the 5X5 and reduce the size the design will stitch out denser than the original. These designs look like they are digitized as bullion roses, reducing their size might cause them to be to dense and ruin their appearance and perhaps jam your machine and/or break needles.

When a design is being digitized, it is not yet a stitch file, so when changing a size the digitizer can also change the number of stitches, stitch length and density etc. Once the design is rendered into a stitch file, making changes to the size (without appropriate software) only changes the stitch length and just squishes the design into a smaller area.

I hope this makes sense.

the janome 9700 will only work with the 4x4 the 5x7 and the Giga hoop
a 4x4 is good as you can do everything else in the 5x7 it will not recognise the 6x6 as it is bigger than the five x seven.
yes you can expand a pattern but not the hoop size the 4x4 will do all the small work and you can actaully do two lots of designs in the one hooping in a 5x7. Remember you can expand the design but not the hoop If you wanted to go bigger then you can get the GIGA hoop and then split a design with that you can put one design on one side of the hoop and then the hoop is removed and flipped over with the right side still on top and then placed back onto the machine to sew out the second half of the design.
To do this is easy as the software in the customiser is very clear and gives you definate boundaries to work inside. You do not have to buy giga hoop designs the giga hoop does however co0me with several designs. But you can combine many smaller design into the hoop. IE a spray of poppies with corn and a bunny and butterflies can be placed side by side, to be sewn out in the giga hoop.
You can not do large "In the hoop" items or split FSL in the giga hoop. I hope this will help you. If you need more help then just ask me.

I have an ancient Janome which only takes their own cards and also a 10001 which has all the auto features to increase or decrease the sizes of designs. You can run into problems if you increase or decrease a design by more than 20% both density- wise and in having outlined designs accurately fit. So, I would be more inclined to choose the 5x5 design and reduce to get the smaller hoop-size design as well...that's just one opinion for what it's worth; I'm sure someone more expert than I can advise you. Good luck with the embroidery.

I would suggest either the 5x5 or the 4x4, not both. You can't use the 6x6 as it is anyway so no point paying for it. The 5x5 will fit easily into your 5x7 hoop and you can reduce it by 20% to fit the 4x4. Alternatively increase the 4x4 by 25% to get to 5x5. A test stitch will show if you need to adjust the density. These designs are on sale at present, so either set would cost $15.
I don't have this machine so help re density will have to come from someone else.

Actually I am not sure how people digitize to give the various sizes. ... if they created a 6x6, saved it up, reduce it to 5x5, saved it up and the same wk to 4x4 is carried out... hmmmmnn

I use a program called Sewwhatpro with my janome 9700 and i can assure you that i can increas the size of a small design to well over 50% of the original and i can reduce by at least the same amount with out any problem as the program will automatically change the density of the stitching. I can also remove some elements of a design if i wish and can merge other designs onto the original along with any of the fonts on my computer.
this lets me do a 4x4 a 5x5 or in fact any size that will fit my hoops expanding and reducing the sizes by hight or just width with ease so a 4x4 design can be enlarged to fit a 5x7 hoop
