I have a question. First I had a Brother Disney 180D machine and now I have a Brother Galaxi 3000 which is a great step forwards with the first machine. I have only one problerm with this machine that asks for a solution and I asked the shop where I bought the machine many times without result.

The machine I bought second hand because a new one was very expensive for me but is in perfect condition an I can do big emberoideries now and I'm glad with this.
The problem I have is: when I use sticky stabelizer or glue spray everytime my thread breaks and the fact is that the needle gets sticky.
I cannot work without the sticky stabelizer and now I use siliconespray to grease my needle and that works most of the time as long as my needle is greasy. Does anyone recognize this problem and what is the solution for this problem? Does any one have ideas how to avoid this problem???

Thanks to iris2006 for the translation.

Make sure your thread is coming off the spool in the correct direction. I use sticky and sprays and don't seem to encounter any problems.. I keep a bottle of 91 percent alcohol on my sewing table and use this to clean up any over sprays and to wipe off the needle if need be..The alcohol has superior drying/vaporazation qualities so it won't hurt the machine. Inferior quality products also could be a culprit..Hope you find a solution and if you do please post...

I don't have an answer because I don't like the sticky back stuff. But I did want to thank you for all of the fun faces you put up on designs by cute. I am going to use them in a project for my grandchildren. It is a large felt pumpkin and they will be able to change out the faces with your cute faces. Can't wait till fall so i can put it out. Thanks i really like your designs and I love to try and read your dutch messages because my family heritage is dutch.

Hi just seen that you asked your question quite a while ago. I too have a Galazie 3000 and I bought some sticky stabiliser. It made a great deal of mess and for the short time I used the stuff just kept one frame for its use. The frame is still suffering but I gave up using the sticky stabliser and use other alternatives. My friend also with the same machine has problems with thread and needles, she reduces the speed of the machine and uses a larger needle and alters the tension. I have come to the conclusion all machines are different but all respond to tender loving care. A last comment I found the sticky stabiliser expensive. Happy sewing

But it seems, however, that the 3000 Galaxie problems with that stuff.
the speed is with me no solution.
I've tried everything.
you and your girlfriend have those problems.
I hope I find a solution.

Thank you for your comment

10tie I never use the sticky stuff. I found out early on that I was going to have problems. I simply baste around the inside of the hoop after positioning my fabric with pins. Meg digitized some basting stitches for us I believe but I already had some programmed in some of my soft ware. this has always worked well for me, especially on real thick heavy fabric like towels. When I was using the sticky I kept WD40 near & was constantly cleaning my needle during the embroidery process to prevent the sticky needle syndrome. Hope some of the other cuties can help u with your dilemna. *

I just saw this and realized one idea was left out. Every since I discovered the Titanium needle, I don't use anything else. Organ is the brand name and I use the large eye needle, It is wonderful with metallic thread. Wonder if the titanium finish could possible help with the sticky needle problem. Don't know if they are available in Europe. I buy mine at www.allstitch.net I buy the 100/box size and it comes out to 58 cents a needle.

Unfortunately I have also tried and this does not work.
I have my problem still can not remedy.
The only thing so far is helping silicone spray on my needle.
what I regret is that I have never had this problem with my old machine.

I doubt it's your machine or your needle causing the problem. Try a different brand of sticky stabelizer. I use Floriani and haven't had any problems.

Could you use Basting stitches around the inside of your hoop instead?

I nearly always baste my fabric to attach it to the stabiliser as I find it easier than trying to hoop both stabiliser and fabric.

If you write to my email address: melide_menschen@yahoo.com.au

Let me know the MAXIMUM size of the stitch field of your hoops, I will create basting stitches for you, you just load them into your machine and stitche them before you load your design.

hugs n roses, Meganne

I tried the spray sticky stuff and I don't like it at al...gums up everything...If I embroider applique, I just use my hands and hold down...the material stays for me, but I slowed my machine down..(mostly because I sew when my hubby is asleep and I have to be a little quiet.....deanna

Wax paper? that I do not know,
can you tell me what this is.

Thanks!!*

embroiderynikki by embroiderynikki 14 Jul 2009

It is used in the kitchen. We use it for lining cookie sheets so that the food does not stick to the pan. It comes in a roll like plastic wrap or aluminim foil does. It is also used in crafts for iron-ons and kids crafts.

Ohhh Oke we call that "bak paper" in holland.
In english baking paper.
Thanks I will try *4U

The spray that jrob suggested works very well. I have a Brother too and some sticky stabilizers are just too sticky so if you are set on sticky try changing brands. If I've already started something and I have that problem then I occasionally clean the needle off with GooGone. The thread might be a problem too. I use Sulky.

10tie, I have used a spray called Supreme, and 505, I do not have a problem with my needle getting sticky. I would suggest that you try the 505, it says on the can no glue build-up on the needle. I have a Babylock machine, it and your Brother are very similar. My machine is very picky about what thread it likes. What brand of thread are you trying to use?? What needles are you using?? H&*.

I use Madeira thread and Schmets needles.
I do not know if I can 505 glue spray in holland, but I find this species.

10tie, At times I forget we have friends all over the world, maybe you could order on line. I just looked on the can that I have. It says it is make in U.K., E-mail for them: "order505@aol.com" I now use mostly Robinson-Anton rayon thread, and I love the Schmets embroidery needles. I have had lots of problem with Madeira thread shreading and braking in the past. H&*.

I hope it works well for you, do not over spray. I would try a different kind of thread, even if you buy just one spool. H&*

I also have a Brother Disney machine, I love it, but I agree the spray adhesive does not do well, I have changed to the iron on type of stabilizer and it seems to eliminate the problem. As far as the thread breaking I find changing the needle helps (although sometimes it is just the thread you are using) because there can be damage to the needle that you can not see with the naked eye. Hope this helps.

Alcohol swabs clean the needles well...also I'd try a different thread. Have you tried using Gunold's filmoplast? It's a light weight peel and stick backing?
good luck

I use ONLY Sulky KK2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive, it is safe for you, the environment and I never have problems with build up on my needle. Your thread breaking problem sounds like it could possibly be a problem with the kind of thread you use. Try sewing out a different brand and see if that makes a difference. I still like the Sulky KK2200. I hope this helps you solve your problem. I have found some machines do not like certain types of thread. Mine LOVES Sulky and will barely tolerate Metro, so you have to experiment with that, too.
