SWelcome to the site. I've got Husqvarna/Pfaff 3D Pro (now superseded by 4D which costs $2199 - seen tubby's designs in Designs by Cuties - he uses it), but you don't have to buy the whole set. PE-design costs $1299.95, and most complete sets are in between those two prices. I also have Embird, much cheaper and useful for all machines. But you really need a lot of time practicing.

welcome libby, cute outfit for easter. what will it be after the easterdays?I think the program you use depends also of your machine.I have Pe-design because i have a brother machine.

Libby, WELCOME to the CUTE family - we have lots of members that do digitize and I am sure as the day goes on - they will be able to assist you - along with what some already have. *4U

Hello Libby, Welcome!!!

I have Embird - but, use it mostly for editing, the iconizer (being able to see designs in Windows), adding saying or names to designs, etc. I do intend to do some digitizing - but, as Maria says, there is a large learning curve for that - so, I am "learning" as I go. Again welcome, this is a great place for questions, kindness and friends!!

Hi, Libby, and welcome to the Cute family!! Making your own embroidery patterns is called "digitizing", and there are indeed many programs out there to use. It depends on your skill level, and your wallet. Digitizing programs are not cheap, and there is a learning curve to digitize well. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you can just "click to digitize" a piece of clipart, you will not like the results. I have a Janome 300E machine, and purchased the Janome Digitizer Pro program to go with it. Mine is a very expensive program, about $1700, but it will do everything but the dishes, hee hee hee. I got it from my dealer, though, and she gives lessons and support for free on the program & machine. Embird is another program a lot of the gals use, and seem to like. It's less expensive, and there's a free 30 day trial period to see if you like it. I'm sure there will be more info from the others, good luck, and again, welcome to Cute!!! Marji
