degree to use them...how do you guys know all that stuff on there....I know how to open designs in "customizer 11000" that came with my machine and I know how to save them on a usb stick to use the designs on machine. where and how did you cuties learn all the things you know??? Maybe it is that you are very clever cuties...can someone give me an idea or two as to how to learn using programs like the ones above.

Ok, I guess I'm surprised your dealer doesn't give lessons on the machines she sells. If you go to www.janome.com, then click on Australia, there is a calendar of where lessons and demos are being held. There is also a bunch of FAQ's about customizer, perhaps that could be of some help to you. You might PM Ricky, I know she is from OZ and uses Janome, she may be able to help more. For the money you pay for the machines, I guess it surprises me how many dealers seem to hang their customers out to dry when it comes to actually using the thing. Maybe I just have the world's best dealer. Look at her website, www.superstitch.com, see what kind of lessons she's offering. Best of luck, you really should get the most fun out of the machine you can! Marji

I can tell you that since they are free there is no harm in trying the products...The sewcat is an organizing program for your designs I believe...I downloaded the trial and yes it is simple to use..and there is a great support group in yahoo for the "sew" iconz, sewwhat pro, and sew art as well. I have the sew iconz sew what pro and getting ready to buy the sew art next..download the sew iconz freebie for the week and I know you will just love it...I can't say much for the other two as I am not familiar with those. good luck and remember that is why they give free trials..this way you are not stuck with something you are unable to use...* 4 all!

If you bought your machine from a dealer usually they will give help/lesson to get you going. I too prefer to watch and learn rather than wade through a manual. But then there is a lot to be said for just sitting down and having a go. Computers are pretty hardy unless it gets dropped so by experimenting you arenot going to do any damage. Just take it step by step and make the odd notes to help you next time. Have fun, try out the trial programmes. You do need loads of time, something I dont have to get to grips with digitising. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I am a see-to-do person! If I can watch someone do it then I can follow thru. My son is a true genius on a computer but will not help me at all! I know I spent hard earned money to send him to school for that but he does not have time to help me so I have to learn the hard way. Sometimes, if it simple to him, he will talk me thru something on the phone but I can forget any physical help. I know how you feel! Linda

Does your dealer not give lessons on your machine? My Janome dealer gives lessons on the machines and software that goes with them, for free. I know I must sound like a broken record, but to me that's the importance of purchasing from a good dealer rather than eBay or somewhere, is the support you get for the product. I have Janome's Digitizer Pro, not Customizer, but some here do have Customizer, maybe they can help. There's also the Janome website. And I, too, learn best by reading manuals, so I'm really no help with videos, etc. One thing I do know, is that you can't damage the computer by playing with the software. Just keep trying stuff, see what the buttons do, etc. Worst that can happen is it will tell you it has to close the program because you confused the bejezuz out of it, hee hee hee. Have fun, Marji

i too am a "show me" person. As a last resort then I read the manual. I learn by watching the video or have someone else show me how. Good luck on learning your new programs.

I never learn much from videos that SHOW you how to do it, for me it's READING manuals and trial and error. (They say women are notorious for not reading manuals, but I know a man who never read the instructions for the washing machine- lol) And when I got results and thought I understood the program I looked up if there were more and maybe easier ways to do it - there almost always are - and I love being able to use different methods.

you are one of the lucky ones i would rather clean the stove than read a manual. but if i have to learn that way i will have to start reading the help manual. thank you mops

Embroidery fonts plus is not that hard to learn. You just have to play around with it. Do the help thing and read it first not 2 months later as I did. The other two, I haven't heard of. You just have to get into a program and play around. That's what I'm doing and it is going a little slow, but thats ok. Here is a good place to ask, as I have done. Mostly, read the help section of the program.
