I found this link. I know of using buckwheat to make them, but I don't care for the smell. I also know that you can put different herbs to make them smell good. Her is the link.

We use wheat as well (the Netherlands) 2-3 min in MW depending upon size. I add lavender.

We use rice in US because it is cheap and readily available. Most of our wheat is already ground and bagged, so that is why. 2 minutes in a microwave is the reccommended time frame, however some microwaves are stronger than others, so test and take care.;)

These are small bags we make and fill them with rice. Heat in the Microwave and then you can place them on your aches and pains. Use them as heat packs when needed. *4u

Hello, this is "downunder" answering too... ha.. I put mine (it's filled with wheat) in the MW for 2 min. But I put a cup with water with it. I then wrap it in a small handtowel and voila'- ready to use. Hugs, Mary, Melbourne

I made mine with rice and others with dried field corn. My instructions read to place in micro for 2 to 3 minutes...I felt that 3 min was toooo long...you could burn yourself:( The corn does stay warmer longer!
