coping with this on top of the other little problem is really getting me down now.

I've lost so much jaw bone, another 6 teeth and had my jaw drained twice and taken 9 lots of the strongest anti-biotic and STILL it isn't healed, so if it means surgery, bring it on.

I can't stress enough the importance of regular dental checkups!!!!

I only missed 3 years and in that time this infection could have been prevented, if only I had not stopped having regular check-ups. Now I would pay anything to alleviate the pain i have been suffering.
hugs n roses, Meganne

Oh, wow, Meg! First, I thought I had posted an answer to this post, but maybe my "old-timers" disease is acting up again, hee hee hee. Healthcare seems to really be terrible no matter where we live. I'm on Medicare, and have no dental whatsoever. They'll pay for all kinds of treatments to fix infections, etc., but not for the simple dental stuff it would take to prevent them. Sometimes I really don't get it. Best of luck to you, hope you can get out of pain, that tooth & jaw pain can be a real bummer. I won't take Foxamax or anything like it, I think perhaps it causes more problems than it helps. Be well, my dear one. Marji

The medical systems suck sometimes. My GP decided to go out of medicare and into private practice so I have had to go to statcare clinic a couple of times in the past few months, but have finally gotten a new GP see him 1st Dec. Sorry to hear all your pain suffering meganne as others below said pain in the mouth affects the whole head, nothing worse. I am fortunate in that I have strong teeth and very seldom have any work except cleaning, I go faithfully once a year, appointment next week...Do take care and hopefully this new referral will help you..Hugs xxxG

Bless your heart.....I know you must be sick and tired of being sick and tired! I have a gum disease which forces me to the dentist every 4months....At least it is being controlled, and PS it is hereditary. I have always gone to the dentist regularly. Part of the reason my darling baby brother died at 51 is poor dental health....

Meg I can only imagine what u have suffered, My only living aunt who is 75 had to have a lot of oral surgery because she was taking fosamax an osteo med. One of it's side effects is deteriation of jaw bone. they had to take out a lot of hers & then do reconstruction on her face & mouth so she could wear a partial again. She has since had to have one lobe of a lung out, & now tells me they r treating her 4 TB all of this has happened in the past 3 mos. She is only 5 yrs older than me & up till now a lot healthier than me. she says jaw & face pain & not being able to eat was the worst of it all.

OMG! That is so awful, I really empathise with her, my Sister is on Fosamax & also fighting to save her teeth and I know how bad it is for her, thankfully it hasn't affected her jaw yet. Osteo is so terrible, you wouldn't believe, my sister used to be 4" taller than me, now we're the same height, and I haven't grown any.

I keep saying that really I am healthy, it's just that my body is attacking me. All this lot started with a cavity underneath a filling that became infected when a crook dentist extracted it, I didn't even know I had a cavity until the filling on top fell out. Worse luck it hasn't stopped me eating though,,, I could do to lose a few pounds. LOL!

It seems my bones are going to be my biggest problem, makes me wonder if it wasn't caused by my obsession with sports when I was younger, I was into everything and I'm certainly paying for it now! But I'm grateful as most of my problems can be fixed by surgery.

I still consider myself lucky really, but some days I have trouble coping with the pain. I also have spurs on the vertebrae in my neck, more surgery.

I think I just better buy a hospital! LOL!

Blessing that you can go to a specialist. I am sad it took 2 years. Meganne I can't even imagine what this must feel like. When I have a tooth ache my whole head seems to be affected. Let's hope that this docotor will have the knowledge to stop this infection. Please keep us informed when you will see him. I would like to pray for sucess in this situation. Angie
