The directions for the travel trays are in Mary Mulari's book Made For Travel. I keep mine in the suitcase, soon as I arrive at a hotel, I pinch the corners together & set on the dresser, & have never lost a ring, watch, change, room key, etc. since! The red one is a scene from Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains. The dream catcher is from designsbysick, which I enlarged to make it large enough for the tray. Others are probably free downloads. If making for a gift, it's nice to put something like "Gerry's Treasures" on it instead of travel tray!

Gerry yours don't look as deep as the ones in the tutorial from sllakin, are the dimensions the same?
Great idea I wear hearing aids and take them out at night along with my jewellery I usually have quite a collection on the bureau or night table this would be a great idea and doesn't take up any room in your suitcase...thanks for the idea...Glenda

Cute Idea, who couldn't use one of those at home for keys and stuff we drop at the doorway.

I'm not familiar with term travel tray. Do you empty pockets for a man and remove jewelry and place keys in it? I don't get out much anymore!!!

I guess it's sorta a made up term! I use it when I travel!! Lost a watch behind the TV in one hotel (did find it) as it slid off. That's when I made myself one! And both men & women use them...my DH & I share mine when we travel!

The bottom has plastic needle point canvas in there to give it body! Sew up 3 sides, slide in the canvas, sew up the 4th! Better than cardboard & easier than batting. Give it a try. And thanks for the link!! The canvas is at WalMart in a pack of 6 pieces and very cheap! Can get 2 or 3 from each piece...depending on the way you cut it!

These are great! LOve the designs you put on them!

I found this link for a tutorial on these - I'm thinking I'll just put a "batting" between mine instead of the paper or cardboard. Should be OK.
