Sandra, this is precious! You've done an outstanding job.
Very pretty. I did several white-on-white, which does not show up well in a picture. This one's so beautiful!
I love it also! What type of material did you use and what size is the pillow. My future daughter in law want me to do one for their wedding.
Thank you, it's made from delusted satin and I think it was 11" square less the seams. I think the designs were from ann the gran and I did the writing. Trick to writing dont have it too small. I had trouble when writing was too small.
This is SO beautiful! I'm sure that it will be a treasured gift. *4U
Thank you and yes it is a treasured gift, she cried when she saw it as she didnt know what it would be like she thought it was just going to be a plain white pillow with nothing on it. So it is a real keepsake and she really appreciated it. Makes it all worthwhile when you see the look on the face.
Sandra, it looks fantastic, well done and *4U Hugs Yvonne
i was 'googling' for ring and saw this nice ring pillow. I cannot and dont know how to add that lace? or rope kind of finishing to the center of the pillow edge....... the embroidery wk is very nice. Well Done! Very professional
LOL forgot i already posted.. but this shows how impressive i am with this ring pillow hahahha :P
eveve, the rope around the edge is piping, it is already made and bought from the shop. Only tricky bit is tapering it off on the bottom, but not hard you can do it. Have confidence.
WOW, Sandra, that is just wonderful!! You have been busy for sure. Hope things will slow down a bit now for you and you can get more stitching done.
Carol in NE
Thanks Carol, things are slowing to what they were and can get back into the quilt cover I have been trying to make since December 07. Hope to post it soon.
Beautiful!! Considering the trouble you had...Job well done. I bet she loved it for sure and she will treasure it forever!!!!
Thank you, I am glad I got it all worked out in the end. She didn't realise that it would be such a keepsake to keep. She was just thinking that it would just be a plain pillow with just the rings on it and nothing else, she was a bit blown away with it and didnt know what she was expecting, but wasnt expecting it to be as beautiful as it is. She loved it very much.
What an a beautiful work of art! I can imagine that they just loved it. One of a kind! *
She had all the right to love it, it is beautiful!!
sandra, that is sew beautiful, looks absolutely gorgeous.
This is so lovely. Dont you just feel proud with the final results :)
Sandra, you did a spectacular job - I know they will treasure it. Who wouldn't?
What of the noble cushions! I love the designs. Gr Hilde
This is nice! May i know the fabrics u have used & how u go about choosing yr stabiliser etc? How did u finish that edge? I'm a newbie so checking things out. hehe. I love the top 2 graphics chosen. The color combination of them and the nice wordings.
Thank you Eveve, I hope this will not be too long, but you asked the question and here it is.
The fabric is Delusted Satin-colour Ivory.
I started by cutting a 12inch square with the rotary cutter. In the original Dove & Ribbon design, the ribbon colours are purple and violet. I changed them to match the bridesmaids, they were the darker pink and in all used the three shades of pink. The design is one design and used the larger frame of 130mm W x 180mm H. The design is by Ann Cobb and found it in the wedding section on AnnTheGran. The edging is Ivory cord piping bought ready made from the shop. You need to clip the piping in the corners when laying it on the satin so it sits down better and behaves in the corners. Stabiliser-Well!,did try to use cutaway and smaller writing, BUT had lots of troubles with thread breaking and cotton tangling up in the bobbin etc. After 5 hours of this and had only got the writing and the blue birds on the bottom done and started the top design and then the top messed up I was at my wits end and in tears. I tried to unpick the top design where I had started but it was too thick and couldn't be done. I had done everything I could, you name it I done it. So, I left it for awhile and went back to my program and enlarged the writing a little bit,I changed the heading by leaving out one word and to how it is now,I re spaced everything. The next morning I started a fresh cushion. I also changed the stabiliser to a medium tearaway and got started. It sewed out with only one break in the g in springhaven and the last outline on the white doves, and sewed in the right amount of time. I was happy then. So the conclusion is that the thickness of the fabric and cutaway was too thick and it didn't matter what the brand of cotton it was it broke them all. So for all that I am very happy how it turned out. Oh yes then I had to stuff it. I used 4 layers of fluffy wadding and sewed 3 edges down a little so it wouldnt come apart when I put it inside. Then hand sewed it shut. I had already sewed the ribbons on before I did the piping, trimming and clipping. Springhaven is the name of the property where they live and married on. So there you have it. Hope it has helped someone.
Thanks dear! I am saving this up and well go through this. I am going to make one ring pillow for my friend so yea, i will try and hopefully i can do a ring pillow thats 80% of yr standard. hehehhehe it sound so time consuming :( Lots of hardwork is put into embroidery wk.
I forgot to add, it is really frustrating when things dont get done well. Luckily u are able to work through it and get it done so nicely! I plan to do a test sewing using ordinary threads first to figure out the positioning of the embroidery design and then do it with silver or gold threads when the design is finalised... and there is nothing wrong with the fonts etc. Hope and pray that i can do a good job.
Lovely design, nice keepsake. My husband never wears his ring, says he'll lose it when swimming, a nice cushion like this might have been handy (of course, I could always make one, but after 44 years...)
Thank you Mops, my husband lost a ring in the surf while he was swimming, it just took it off his finger, so I can understand why your husband feels like that at least he doesn't want to loose it. Congradulations to you both for the last 44 years of marriage. I hope you have many more years ahead of you. May be you could make one for your 50th.
Just beautiful. Wonderful treasure. The designer
