I made this set of bath towels for a niece & her husband's 25th wedding anniversary. Other than trying to hoop the thick terry, it went pretty

smooth. (It was kind of daring of me to do this as a gift, as I am not
an "experienced" embroiderer.) Design is from Embroidery Library.

I've been wanting those designs from EL! DH can't seem to quit wiping his face after shaving on my towel... !!!! LOL... I was thinking this might solve the problem, but then he'd have to atually read them wouldn't he? Okay, back to square one. :-) Joking aside, you did a nice job... !

They look great. You mentioned the placement. Now that you know you notice it, but I don't think everyone is that critical. Flower for you.

Thank you!! I need to figure out ahead of time, if a design is actually a pair: I didn't notice when I did the tracing that it needed adjusting.

I don't hoop the towels, only the stabilizer, your choice either tear a way or solvy, and use an adhesive spray and pins if needed and a top solvy to keep the loops from poking through. I have arthritis in my hands and any way to make hooping easier I will try. Your towels look great so you must have been doing something right.

Thanks for the tips & words of encouragement!! I used a tear-away on the bottom, and the wash away on top, but I didn't realize you didn't have to hoop the towel. Will try that next time. Thanks!!

kezza2sew by kezza2sew 22 Aug 2008

you will never hoop another towel again once you do it this way, takes all the hassle out of hooping. do try it.

Thank you for the kind words. I still have LOTS to learn. After I had them stitched out, I found that they were not exactly a match - the letters were not the same height, so I would have needed to adjust the placement.
