Back from 56 hours of no internet, no tv, no heat or lights, and extremely sketchy phone service. I didn't know how quickly I would crumble with only books and dining out or eating non-cooked foods to entertain me. I was close to babbling. I finished one book yesterday and started another and am checking in here to get today's downloads. It got to 34 degrees last night. Only damage at my house - I lost 4 small trees. Two blocks away, several power poles snapped and lines on the ground and two houses with trees on them. Not declared a tornado yet, but probably will be. I think there were something like 34 in Alabama and into Georgia on Wednesday, but I'm sketchy on news and weather reports, too. So grateful no ambulances or fires during all the power outage in our big area. Had an ambulance go by as soon as power was restored and hope it wasn't one of our hero linemen. They worked around the clock.

Oh my, I am glad you had no major problems! I had no internet for 2 days and I could not believe how much I am addicted to the internet. I am not prepared for what you have gone through. Prayers for those affected by all the bad weather this week.

I'm so sorry you had to experience all of the hours of scare and worry and cold. I'm so grateful you and your property are OK. I haven't heard of any of this which worries me since I am so close. You are reminding us all to prepare for power outages when they occur or any reason. I have been collecting cheap candles and have learned to make candles using empty glass jars and liquid oil or coconut oil to use for light and heat. You can by the wicks from Amazon. Please stay safe and be careful.

I awarded my son the Best Camper award. He stood a flashlight on end and put a Solo cup of water with a lid on top and created a small "lamp". The water magnifies the light. Skye got the Best Kitty award for not tipping it all over in the night!

I would surely miss not being able to sew or have light to read by (nights especially), but I have gas fireplace and gas cook stove. Oh, and prepared meals in freezer! Still, I was w/o power once for 2 days following a tornado that killed 6 people…and I thot it was the worst! It takes a strong person, doesn’t it? I’m so glad you are okay.

It does take strength, and I don't want to be that strong!

Welcome back. That is quite a time to be without power and you have made me think. I do know I could cook in a similar circumstance. Take care and enjoy being back in touch
