Hello Cuties! I decided to try again to make me a tote large enough for 2 Quilts of Valor and my wool pressing mat and I have at last I succeeded. ( see the size difference)

The purple XXXLg (lol) tote I made with Oly cloth I got on a roll at Walmart. When I bought it, I paid $2 for the roll of 30 inches x3 yards. I know it was $5 but now may be higher. Still not bad for a bag this size.
I cut my straps 4 x 78 inches to go from bottom seam all the way around one side of an outer bag piece to the other side, back to bottom with 4 inches either side of center, so 8 inch apart. I did the back the same way. I realized after I cut 4 inch width for the strap that I couldn’t fold and sew into fourths like I usually do as it would be to narrow for this large tote. So I finger pressed about 1/4 inch under and then folded into 3 layers, with the fold on top. I then stitched both sides. I used my Clover clips to hold in place because it was a little tough to pin.
My body of bag I cut 26 h X 31 wide. Oly Fun doesn’t fray, so I didn’t line it and I stitched my seam allowances down flat inside, to look neater and for strength. Since the Oly comes 30 inch I actually first cut my piece 30 x 31 taking 4 inches off of the 30 inch making my size 26 x 31.
I used the 4 inch pieces for my straps as I had to cut more 4 inch pieces to piece my straps to get 78 inches.
I cut 4 inch squares off the bottom corners of my front and back, to make my bottom.
I didn’t write sewing sequence but if anyone needs that I can. I just mainly gave cutting measurements in case anyone else need a jumbo bag like this. I made long straps like this because of weight. If you just sewed at the top edge the weight would pull on it a lot. Something to think about.
Anyway, I hope you like my tote even though it’s so simple. I am glad now I have something to carry my quilts in. Lynn just texted me she has two of my quilts quilted and ready to give back to me Thursday for me to sew on the binding and label. I will be taking 2 finished quilts with me Thursday, to present to 2 veterans. I just heard that we will be giving 8 quilts Thursday.
Have a nice day my friends❤️Toogie

Thanks Chris, I have since made a blue one this size. I know how you love blue-lol-You're right about them coming in handy. Lynn just told me she would be bringing me my gold and black silhouette panel and my Eagle panel for finishing.

A high five to you for persevering and now having the beautiful bag that you have wanted. I hope you will get many years of service from this bag. After all, you never seem to run out of deserving Veterans for these special quilts.
