Thanks for trying to help Marjorie. I have an embroidery card that I use to transfer designs from a file on my computer to the card with a Brother PED card writer box. It doesn’t recognize newer pes versions but versions below a v6 it does recognize. It’s the newer pes designs above pesv6 that says invalid file type. I appreciate your input, thanks.
I've had 2 Magic Boxes that I used cards with. The boxes themselves stopped working. There was another brand of those boxes online that I bought that worked well. Now that I have a new machine that has a USB port, I don't use my cards any more even though the sewing machine will take cards as well as USB. My machine doesn't seem to care what format I'm using. It is so much easier to use than the cards and I got tired/frustrated/exhausted with the cards. Yes, it was an expensive upgrade, but I once again enjoy ME!
Will your software or machine read dst? If it does give dst a try. Just a thought, other than that suggestion, I am very tech Illiterate,
I can convert the other formats to pes but I wish the pes designs included older versions too. I used to get all kind of formats in a zip file and they would include a couple of pes and pesv6 files. I’m not pc smart either and like most things I learn as I go.
It will sometimes change colors,,,,,and combine colors that are close, so you may loose some shading....I find I can open anything with Embird..but with my very old PE Design, I have had to do this. HUS seems to convert the best.
This is sort of what I was meaning. One time for instance, I got an elk design from emb library. My elk pes file I opened was green, red, purple so it’s a good thing I kept the chart. I know some formats have a few differences in stitch count, too. I can open the old pes but the new versions I have to save a hus or jef file then convert to pes. The pes is included in the zip files but I can’t open because it’s a newer version than my old program recognizes. I just wondered if the design itself gets changed. Thank you for info.
Oh my! I didn't know this is happening with our designs and software.
Toogie its 4am in the UK and I am awake as there is a very noisy party going on at my new neighbours... I have PE 11 and I am opening designs that I originally downloaded in 2007 without any problems at all. I have bought a design or two recently and they wont open. On these occasions contact the seller and they reformat the design. This is a comment on designs not opening that I have seen a number of times on FB groups too. Does that answer your question?
I believe a newer software version such as your PE 11 will or should open all pes version. However, my software is OLD. I don’t know what version it is but it will only open old pes versions, not anything above pes v6 . So I have to save another format, then convert to my old pes version. I just wondered, when I change a hus or a jef to the pes format, does the design itself change in the way it looks?
