Who knows about a Janome 500E?

I saw one $2200 and includes a big amount of thread and I wondered if that is a fair price. I haven't checked out how old or anything yet, just wanted some cutie input!

The price will really depend on where you live and the age and use of the machine. Threads are also expensive as you know so I would factor that amd any other extras when considering price.
I have owned my 500e since 2017. It has been an absolute workhorse. I have used it for gifts, logos, lace and softies. I use mine with a threadstand my DH made and have been able to use lots of brands thread with very few issues. You can adjust the speed and use a usb or send a file direct from the computer. If you look at my projects you will see a number of items made using this machine.
I float most embroidery projects on this machine rather than directly hoop fabric to save any wear in the fabric rubbing between the hoop and bed of the machine. Floating also helps as the hoops on domestic machines don't always hold thick fabrics well. I do this for any embroidery machine where the hoop moves directly over the bed though.
For a home machine I love it and can have it humming away while sewing on my other machine.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, the thread is expensive and there are over about 60 spools and about 50% are full the rest vary.
I have a Janome 11000 and it is a workhorse and I can use just about any brand of thread with no issues but this one for a backup or if my friend will be interested, I wasn't sure.
So thanks

I had looked at them when I needed a new... I don't remember why, it's slow, something didn't sit right with me and I bought another Brother. With us, the price has now fallen by a quarter; still 1600,- €.

Not sure about the price, but I have this machine it is a bit contrary abut the kind of thread it likes and bobbin perwound work great , and you must put all the designs you go to embroidery in a special tab, or it will not read them, sew nice, I have had it over two years and no problems,

I know nothing about the machine but finding out the stitch count, age of machine, service history and where purchased are some of the questions I would be asking. Good luck

Thanks. I'm only checking for a friend. Checking with cuties who know this machine was my starting point.
There is also loads of spools of thread the lady has for it.
