Ideas please. I have just bought a design which I downloaded onto my laptop. There is a choice of 4 sizes but when I attempt to open the design in my PE8 it keeps saying it cannot read this file version. Its getting me quite frustrated so any ideas will be gratefully received. I have contacted the person who designed embroidery. Thanks

This may be of help to you should it happen again, I have a Brother embroidery machine and love it. Ok sometimes I have the same problem what I found out just by trial and error is this, try converting the HUS designs to Pes I have done this many times and it works. Don't ask me why because I have no idea. LOL
Pleased to hear that the digitiser sent you the designs again. From experience some digitisers get a little testy if you dare to say there is something wrong with the designs.

I had a lot of that too! What I found was My Editor was able to open anything and then I could save to the design in the format for my older machine. It is a FREE.application and I think it is both Windows and Mac. A lot of people love Embird, but I don't have any experience with that application. https://my-editor.software.inform...

Not familiar with your software but are the designs in a zipped folder which needs to be unzipped? Just a thought.

I would guess it is in a higher version of .Pes than your software or machine can read... I would contact the digitizer/website and ask them to save it in .Pes version 6 or lower... hopefully, that will solve your problem... It is a common problem now with the newer software programs automatically saving in the highest .Pes version of the software.

Thanks for replying. My Pes is version 8 and this is a problem I’ve not had before. I have been sent the design again by the digitiser, not sure what she did but all is fine now

She probably recognized the problem and sent you a lower version of .Pes with these designs... This is happening so often now to so many embroiderers using .Pes but I am glad you have it all sorted out now.

Can you skip the software and just load the designs to the machine and see of all sizes will work? When I digitise something and want to save it as .pes I get the question in what version I want to save the design, the larger ones need the latest version, smaller designs can do with earlier versions. Might be the case here.

What format is the design in? Did you have a choice of formats when you bought it? It not uncommon for machines to only accept a certain format. My older Bernina will only stitch .art designs. So, to use that machine, I have to convert the format of the design to an .art format before it'll stitch it out.

Thanks for replying. I use pes and the design came in about 10 formats pes being one. I have embroidered in pes for years and years. The digitiser has sent me the designs again and says she uses PE Next so I wonder if there is a lack of compatibility? Though both being Brother I would have thought that there shouldnt be. I'm confused
