Hi cuties.....just to let you all know I had a reactionary rash to the 2nd shingrix shot .... had it on Tuesday and woke up at 2:oo AM covered in a bright red rash...torso, armpits, behind my knees.....it stung, burned and itched all at the same time.....my doc seen me right away as they were afraid I had actually contracted shingles...instead it was caused by my body overcompensating to the vaccine, so got steroid shot, steroid pill burst for 5 days, claritin and benadryl until I clear up. I can only take cool showers or baths so with freezing weather here it's awful...takes awhile to rewarm....I can't get a covid vaccine for 4 weeks.

So just letting you know where I been...

Egads ! One thing after another isn't it. I pray strength and healing for you and that this clears up quickly as too many things, right in a row, can really take a mental tole. Physically it isn't so fun either. Take it easy, the cool showers sound terrible in the winter, and get better soon.

Oh dear. That sounds dreadful. I’ve had shingles twice and it’s a nightmare. I pray that your vaccine is effective with all that you have gone through.

Oh, Vicki...so sorry to hear this...with all of the other trials you have been through these past several months....Like everything, we all can experience different reactions to different things...I has a slightly sore arm after the first shot and same reaction after the second...same for my DH. I agree with Betsey that I would rather have symptoms from the vaccine that get shingles...Hope you recover quickly...

My doctor told me this vaccine has the "live" virus where things like the flu shot and covid shot, etc. are not and that reactions can be much more significant. Feel better soon!

The reactions are not so common so do think about getting the shingles shot. The actual shingles are a nightmare.

That sucks Vicki, but I'm glad you are on the mend. I get a rash like that if I eat anything with Soy in it, so I know how you felt. I keep packets of antihistamines in my bathroom cupboard all the time, just in case. Love Chris

I too had a bad reaction, but I have had shingles and I would always choose the reaction to a shot to the problem itself! Praying for your quick recovery and patience, and most of all, that you never get shingles. There was a doctor here locally who vowed to his Sunday School class that he would pay for any of them to get the shot who felt they could not afford to pay for it as he had a miserable case of shingles right beside his eyes and was at risk for blindness.

Wow! That is amazing. My second Shingles Vaccination was a whole lot worse than my first one. My arm was really hot and felt like it was swollen and it definitely hurt when I slept on it. I hope you are a whole lot better now. But.... for me it was worth it! I had the first shingles vac about 8 years ago. Then I did have the actual shingles in 2014 - but I only had a mild case! It was really bad, but could have been so much worse. It is a terrible virus! So, I'm glad you have the second one completed. Ice????

My first one was the most painful in the arm.....hurt for about 4 weeks.....this time the arm pain almost disappeared as the rash came on.....Jim had a raging fever the same night as the shot but after a night of tossing and turning he broke his fever and started feeling better....

Prayers...
You might feel better eating soft foods like pudding. There is a chance your rash isn't only on the outside.

You are so right...I had an itchy throat and after doc looked in it he ordered the nurse to get the steroid shot ready....my abdomen was swollen this morning but that is getting better.

It is not fun for sure but I don't want this post to discourage anyone from not getting this vaccination....a few days of discomfort beats weeks of suffering with shingles.....
