Hello Cuties! I wanted to show you the quilts that our group made and gave to the children of CASA again this year. We were only down by five from last year. I think that’s still pretty good for the year we’ve all had, not being able to meet. It’s always so nice to see what everyone has made, see them altogether and all so unique. I hope it brightens the children’s days besides keep them warm and they are able to have a Merry Christmas.

Stay well my friends-Toogie

Beautiful, beautiful job from all Toogie, especially the love that goes with them. Nothing like feeling warmth from the heart, and the kids will always remember it.

What a wonderful thing to do I wish we had a group in my Church that would sew.

We come from surrounding areas. I’m about 20 miles away and so are some others in all directions. I think there are only 3 ladies in the whole group that belong to this church they let us use. None of them are our 2 leaders, either. We all sew in the dining hall/kitchen where there are many tables that stay set up. We each bring a dish to the meetings so we also have access to the use of kitchen. Once in a while the Preacher/Pastor will come in and get him a plate because we always have plenty. We just use the sanctuary for presentations of awards.
Maybe you could check online at the Quilt of Valor Foundation web site to see if there is a group in your area. It would be a nice way to meet new people after all this is over.

Your photo and story touched my heart. The quilts will be treasured and remember by the recipients of these quilts and will treasure and remember their quilt thoughout their life. The spirit of Christmas cannot be denied as your post shows. Thanks for posting this!

I’m glad you enjoyed this post. I love these pictures of quilts and wanted someone else to enjoy them too. I hope the children realize someone does care about them. Merry Christmas-Toogie

What a great effort from you and your group Toogie. I bet these quilts and those before them will bring comfort to the recipients when they need it most. I'm sure that in previous years it is also a wonderful way to enjoy
fellowship with all the other ladies (any men). Blessings to you all and have a lovely Christmas no matter how different it may be this year. Lynne in OZ

Great work, glad you have a group. We did not quilt last winter and I miss it sew much. There beautiful Toogie.

Lynne we have only women in our group but our men come sometimes when we present a Quilt of Valor. Our group used to meet before Covid twice a month. One Thursday was our QOV Meeting and the other was our CASA ,or another charity (policemen’s quilt for kids ) , or our own quilts. I loved our meetings and hope they will not forever be a thing of the past.

Sandy, I’m glad you commented, nice to ‘see’ you. Our leader has tried to have a few meetings this year, but as most of us are in the vulnerable age list, attendance was almost none existent. I only went to turn in something or pick up something, so I was in and out in short order, always wearing my mask with 4 people there. It’s so sad because so much more work could be done. I have 6 QOV tops already cut out ready to piece, after Christmas. The tops I pieced this year are still at the quilter. I know you miss your group but do like me and keep working on them at home. The fellowship with friends and family hopefully will be possible again soon. We all need this. Take care-Toogie

Toogie, I love what your group is doing. What a beautiful collection!! So nice to let us see them, it's quite inspiring too..
Have you a set size?

They can be baby size to size for twin bed for teenagers, so we make any size we as an individual want to make. Unfortunately there is need for all.
I think it is beautiful seeing them all draped over the church pews. I told my children I want this at my wake, even though I want see it, they can show others the love I have for each of them. I also told them it doesn’t matter how faded or raggedy they look. It will show they loved & used them!

That reminds me of the story of Dorcas, although the end would be different :)

toogie by toogie 11 Dec 2020

I’m sure you’re speaking of Tabitha (aka Dorcas) in Acts 9. I feel unworthy of comparison but how sweet of you. I often think of His teachings, for us to keep busy with our hands, and strive to be a virtuous woman like in Proverbs 31.

Everyone makes what they want and so I am always surprised that no two are alike.

What a beautiful picture and the love just oozes from those quilts. I have no doubt that there will be many smiles for each of the children who receive one of these quilts. Kudos to you all for managing to do so much for so many during these crazy unstable times.

I am glad to have this ministry to belong and keep busy during this time, otherwise I’d be nuts! 😉They do make an awesome picture with all the differences. Love seeing each one.

The Pastor Larry and his wife Vergie and his wife was from Texas.. Went back to Texas several years ago. The church payed for the room were we was quiliting in Albir. We came from many diferent countries, mostly from Europe, one from Israel . The language was english. And we all had a good time together. i did not belong to the church but were welcomed although

Oh Anita I would have loved joining your group! I love reading your experience with the group of quilters. What a beautiful place Altea is,too. I wish I could have met ladies like this who sewed or quilted years ago when I lived in Germany. Two German ladies in my building let me use their machines, to make clothes for myself. Did this group break up after the Pastor and his wife left or do you still meet and quilt?

anitapatch by anitapatch 12 Dec 2020

Yes the group split up, but Jean Williams started after a while her own patchwork shop and many in the group went on qulting with her. Me from Sweden and two inglish, one from Austria and one norweigen met on wednesdays in one of the girls home. liked it very much. show you a quilt we did together (still unfinished) in 2005 i moved one went back to Norway her husband got sick and one pasted away. But still this wednesday is in my memory.

Oh I love it with all it's colors! You need to finish it after Christmas. I find if I don't quilt them before I start another one, I loose interest. I waited so long to finish my blue scallop one because I couldn't decide on the border and I don't like to wait. Now no one chooses it. Oh well, when I die maybe they will want it then, a queen size, too.

Thanks Chris I love seeing them altogether every year. Two of the ladies sent me this picture because I just dropped mine off. I did not stay for the CASA lady to pick up.
