Hi cuties, well as you know Amy, Steve and family moved in with us last weekend. Today their house has begun to be demolished and by the end of the week it won’t be there anymore. Here are pictures of what it looked like before and after they started. I’ll post more pictures as they come through. Love Chris

1. Pictures of home (taken when originally thinking of selling but they decided not to and rebuild)
2. First thing this morning
3. Fence up surrounded front of house
4. Bathroom being pulled up
5. Looking from kitchen up hallway. That’s Steve pulling something off
6. Kitchen
7. Name of company demolition firm.

Hi Kim, yes, it is and we can't wait for our holidays.
I think the whole world needs a break this year. What with our dreadful bushfires and loss of life in the early part of this year, Covid19 and our floods it has been, as the Queen of England once said - an annus horribilis! Love Chris

How exciting and sad at the same time. Change of life for you having them move in with you. That can be exciting and trying at the same time too (speaking from experience!) Hope everything goes well and am looking forward to seeing updates. My mom used to live next door to where we built our new house. We worked during the day while it was being built so my Mom(unbenounced to us) took pictures and wrote a story of what went on day to day. It was a wonderful gift that we treasure.

That was so nice of your Mother to do that for you. I know Amy has been taking some video and pictures of what's been happening so far. Today Steve and Amy pulled up all the floorboards and took out all the nails. A mammoth job, but they will be a connection to the past and recycling is one of their loves. Love Chris

Yikes! Those are scary photos. I'm sure in the long run it'll be nice to have a brand new house and the excitement of moving back into a new place. They will always remember your kindness of taking them in and sharing your home with them.

Hi Penny, you should see it today. All the internal structure is gone and only the uprights are standing. I can't wait to see it finally all gone. They are so excited about getting anew home. Love Chris

Hi Miss Lillian, it depends on Amy and Steve's builder, but he can't start till the end of January. Here in Australia all tradies have a holiday during January as it's so bl..dy hot here. Joel is the builder and is really chafing at the bit to get it started and hopefully finished within 6 months. Love Chris

And now they are seeing progress. It has to be bittersweet though to see the old place disappearing before their eyes. It will be exciting t see the new house taking shape. Hope we get pictures of that too.

Thanks for the update Chris. When I first heard of your daughters plans it sounded sad that a old property was being demolished but now I can see that the houses were put up quickly for homes for the rapidly expanding community. But its obvious that they have outlived their purpose. Dont think I will use the services of the demolition firm.

Hi Caroline, this home is 112 years old, nothing like the ones in England, as we are such a young country. The timber is unfortunately coated with lead paint so the wall timbers can't be re-used, but the hard wood floor boards are being recycled. It's amazing how fast the demolishers work and what with it being close to 35C yesterday it's coming down faster than we anticipated. We had a massive thunderstorm here last night with 1100 lightniing strikes and power is off all over suburbs of Newcastle. I hope that people are ok. Roads will be difficult with trees down everywhere. Love Chris
