Wow you have been busy. At least you can start sewing when the mood hits.
I agree the cutting is the boring part but better done in one go than a little bit at a time.
Right now I sew a length about 36 inches at a time with those little scraps. My husband is catching up outside on mowing and things so I can't cut anyway. He is my ruler stabilizer.-lol
I wondered how you were coming along with this project. It looks like you have at least made a dent in your stash I say kudos to you and hope your hands and wrists are holding out with all of this exercise. I've told myself that as long as I can fit all of my fabric and stabilizer on the shelves I am not a hoarder. We won't talk about all of the yarn I have stuffed in the closet. I figured since I have the yarn organized and in bags, I am not hoarding yarn either. I'm not sure my husband agrees with me, but then if he talks about my bench stock it is fair game to comment about his bench stock (tools, etc)
I need to downsize (some) of my stash, because I tend to keep too much. I don't want to get rid of my fabrics I bought, but I do need to weed through fabric given to me and only keep the quilting cottons.
I am giving my wrist a break because it was starting to hurt. I didn't realize how my hands hurt until a few days ago I could hardly spread them open to hold while I cut. Thank goodness hubby holds my rulers for me or I never would get anything cut.
Men have most of their 'tools' outside in a SHED. Since most of us don't have a sewing shed, our 'tools' are in the house. My oldest granddaughter asked me once about wouldn't I like a sewing shed. I said no. When she didn't understand I explained I would like a shed for PaPa. He could have all the living room furniture and his large screen tv in him a shed. I would take the whole house for my crafts!-lol-A long arm with a 10 or 12 foot frame would fit perfectly in our living room!
I love your response to my hubby's comments. He calls his tools his bench stock and my fabric stuff. And yes, he does have his tools in a shed. Plus he has 2 other sheds. To be fair, 1 shed does house the riding mower and other garden items. But to be truthful, we each have a room in our house for bench stock. .But I don't have a shed. I really like your idea of having the whole house as your sewing space. You have my vote.
Well done, you deserve a break now to get your strength back.
I do feel pleased with the progress and I also need to rest my hands/wrist as Karen remembered. I can fool around with something else a while. Maybe those scrap strips for borders. I'm not putting pressure on my hands doing that.
What a fun idea! it would take me F-O-R-E-v-e-R!
I really need to keep at it. Cutting pieces is my least favorite part of quilt making.
Time to buy more fabric. 😊😊😊
NO😳😵😵!!!
I’m trying to organize my sewing space before my family has me on an episode of Hoarders😂🤣
Well it’s no where near that bad, but I do need to use up my stash.😍
Love the saying about Hoarders , great line, but I have garment fabric as well as quilting, sashiko , stuff Ah, I am a hoarder .when does it end?
It doesn't Jenne-lol- I too have materials for baby clothes, bag making, vinyls, etc. I'm just going through fabric given to me, not my own stash. I should have started sooner-lol
Amazing! And pretty.
I wish all that I had in closet was already opened and cut too! THAT would be amazing 😂
Gosh Toogie you have been busy. Have fun with what ever you do with this.
I have 3 quilts in my mind to do. A couple of kids quilts and with the blue jellyrolls, I will either frame around the sayings like my 'Covid' quilt or do a granny square quilt. Who knows though, by the time I'm ready to sew, I may end up with something totally different.-lol
Exactly! Jenne you're just like me. I save every quilt picture or pdf that I really like on a usb stick. I know I will never make all of them but I want to and who knows, I might make some....
I also have fabric for clothing, recently I sorted out the cupboard in my sewing room what I did was use my cutting ruler as a guide and folded the fabric round it, all are the same width so easy to store. I can at a glance see what I have. Don't believe me, there is so much fabric I now have it spread over three cupboards. We won't talk about patchwork fabric or fabric for embroidery, or even stabilisers. Since our son moved out I now have the use his room, my husband calls it the annex. The old dinning room well that was what it was used for before we added a room on the back of the house, we have to walk through this area to get to the sewing room and laundry, not really a room at all. One wall has floor to ceiling cupboards on one side, ( holding more fabric) a pantry on the other plus a second fridge. So I guess I am a hoarder like everyone else. My husband just shakes his head, and says nothing. I can't even compare my space to his because he is not a handy man doesn't have his own space, he does have a study with loads of books and his beloved computer . "G"
