Update below. Just completed 22 hours without internet. It was h-e-double hockey sticks. (h=e=l=l). Terrible storms and no way to check on progress of the tornados. Missed the big political speeches, you know which ones. Very humid today and pouring rain and just spent 2.5 hours with a very nice service man all over the house, basement, 2nd floor, yard, full width of the house, up, down, up, down, with my favorite cane. Exhausted, but he got me back online. Sank into my lift chair and hit the power, and, you guessed it, he unplugged my chair from the power strip. So, I've been standing on my head chasing cords to find the right one. Took seven calls to Customer Service with an average wait time on each of 20-35 minutes. Lots of firsts. First time I ever had a Customer Service agent say "what the heck" into the phone at me. I said I'm not what the heck, I'm your customer. Wow! I guess everyone's stressed. Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Hmm!

Update: 2 more calls to internet, phone, tv provider to finish up details of the problems. Got up this morning and (next problem) my power went out. Tree fell on the line. So, power out briefly, but over an hour to recover from it. Reset programmable thermostat, the freezer in the basement, reset the clocks on everything electronic, microwave, oven, couldn't get my old computer to re-boot - something got messed up with all that off and on ten times power surge. Finally figured how to restore in safe mode, with which I was not familiar, but it was all by trial and error. The phone message machine ... I'm sure there was more. Oh, yeah - the cable tv. Starting to feel like "they" should put me on salary. Went out and surveyed the neighborhood and it wasn't the dead tree I had noticed this week and called to the attention of the homeowner. So, I called the power company and gave them the address of that dead tree, as sometimes they will remove in advance if they feel a line is in danger. Don't want to go through this again any time soon.

Gosh, what an awful problem to have to deal with! Have you considered getting a "lift chair" for the stairs? The people in my family who have gotten one say they work very well.

That one was a doozie! We had some wind and rain off of it ALL the way over here and we're a long way from Lousiana and Texas. I'm glad you are better sorted out.

Oh my! What a day you had. I hope all is working as it should be now. And hmmm on the stressed spelled backwards I prefer desserts myself.

Service just is not what it used to be. Sorry you had such a hard time. DH retired at the end of June and he's spent a lot of time on the phone trying to get things sorted out. Why do they have to make it so difficult.

Glad you feel better. You had plenty of reasons to be grumpy.

Hopefully you still have some ice cream left so I suggest you help yourself to a large bowlful, relax hopefully in your special chair and catch up on what you have missed.

I agree. A bowl full of ice cream would help. With your luck you may get a brain freeze. 😊😊😊so be careful.
