Had to take my Diamond into the shop last week. It was making nasty thread messes at the bobbin. Picked her up yesterday and she is back to stitching. They had a picture of her problem and it was yuck! There had been thread wound around the shaft of the bobbin area in the machine. Who knows how long that was going on?! At least she is back and running after her spa week away.

We all need a trip to the spa at least once a year! Glad your diamond is working again.

I know I could use a spa trip.....never been, but assume it would be relaxing and calming.

Good of your shop to provide you with a picture.
So frustrating when our machines are not their best.
Hope your Diamond stays in peak condition now.

I hope she keeps working great for a long time. Don't have funds for another machine right now.

My Brother has been in for a two week vacation! They rang me yesterday to say it's ready - $165.00 to pay added onto the $25.00 deposit already paid. So $190.00.
It was stopping every 30 stitches and I had two leaves to go on the centre section one of those Cross and Lily banners I was making. I asked them to give it a service and to make sure the automatic threader was working. I look forward to seeing what the charges are for on the invoice! Love Chris

Service charges seem to vary a lot & none of them cheap.
Recently received a message from a dealer in QLD saying one of their service-men was planning an in-home service trip between Brisbane & Sydney and accepting bookings from folk who were on or near their planned travel route - with standard service charge of $240 plus $30 travel as the travel is part of a combined service trip - travel charge seems good but service charge makes your machine's service look like a bargain; however it would be interesting to watch over the service-man's shoulder to see what he actually does for that charge. I did invest in a download of a copy of the service manual for Brother Quattro 2 and it does look like getting to some parts of the machine could be a little fiddly and maybe time-consuming and there are some spots in the machine & embroidery carriage that are supposed to be lubricated when serviced & < if my memory serves me correctly, there are 3 different oils used so they would need to take care which was used where, but its only a drop or two, so not much oil is needed to service a whole bunch of machines.
Hope your Brother machine gives you trouble-free performance for a long time after that "vacation".

Actually Chris, just a regular clean, oil and adjustment costs $150. So you didn't make out too much worse. Hugs. Nan

I seem to be the lucky one. My service guy, who comes with a fully equiped van, does my Ruby and my old Elna for 35 euros each, the sergers for 27. Any problems during the year are solved free of charge, Replacement parts not included. He has been servicing my machine except the Ruby since 1993. The dealer I bought my Ruby from was 2 hrs away, luckely my son lived just a minute or five from that shop so I could combine a visit. But he charged 60 euros. So after a couple of years I asked my service guy to do the Ruby as well.
My daughter in Norway takes her machines with her when she comes over, mails my mechanic well inadvance and he does her machines as well.

Lucky you Martine. And Nan, I am lucky that my guys who do my machines are only a 20 minute drive away, so that price is really good.
Crazystitcher, I got the email from Echidna too about the chap coming down south. One of my friends from another website is going to use him to do her machines. Love Chris

We don't have an in home service around here in Pennsylvania, USA. The quilt/machine shop is about 20 minutes from my house and I do like to visit them but not just for a machine repair!!! My bill was a bit over $165 us dollars with the repair, cleaning. I read over the paper with all that they did and was amazed at what all had to be "checked". Chris (pennifold), I sure hope you and your machine are reunited and she works great too!

It probably had just happened on the last design you were stitching. Glad THAT'S over!

Not so sure...the thread was a different color. Just glad the damage wasn't too bad.

You have made e smile with your comments. Glad to hear you have survived your baby away for a spar break. Seriously it is important to have our babies cared for by specialists who know what they are doing and taking a picture for you of the 'problem' is excellent. If bits are replaced by my dealer I am always given the bits and a written report on the work carried out. Happy sewing together

I had the report and picture.....certainly didn't need the pieces that were replaced, have enough of that kind of stuff here on the farm but on a much larger scale! lol
