Thankyou to Meri (eyeztodiefor) for her heartfelt prayers.

We are at home at the moment and going back up to the Hunter tomorrow. It's horrendous here, with heatwave conditions in the 40'sC+
Poor Meg, their home was in the face of the fire at Bluehaven, I hope she puts up pictures of what she had to go through. It's been absolutely devastating and heartbreaking to see and read about all the people who have lost their lives, our wildlife destroyed, our ancient forests and people's properties just razed to the ground. Food is running out at supermarkets and road closures are causing great concerns as people can't get to where they need to be.
I've been crying reading our Sydney Herald of the heartbreak people are facing. We lost 2 firefighters tragically last week both only in their 30's with young families. Water is running out in some towns and we desperately need RAIN. Please keep us all in your prayers. Love Chris.

My heart goes out to everyone in Australia that has been affected by this awful tragedy . This is a terrible time for families and loved ones who have lost everything. I feel particularly for the poor animals who have no voice to ask for help . I have great admiration for the people who stopped to help them some at risk to themselves . I live in hope that some relief comes to you all soon .
I live in Christchurch and we are still recovering from our devastating earthquake 10 years ago . We are making headway dont give up however small the pieces are pick them up they are what holds the bigger pieces together .

Chris I really wanted to come here and share our story, but since it happened to us, since living through it, I can't stop sobbing for all those who have had it so much worse and are still in the fight of their lives, even as I write this. I know I am in a state of shock and I see the same thing in the blank stares of our neighbours, like many of them, I too, am just not fully functioning at the moment.

The rest of the world just don't realise how vast our land is and how much of it is burning, how many native animals have been lost, to the point that, it has been said, that our beautiful Koalas may now face extinction.

I can't write any more because it is just so devastating, easier to just post this link
https://www.google.com/search?cli...

PLEASE everyone, PLEASE pray for it to rain all over Australia.

Feeling so helpless at the moment

meganne by meganne 05 Jan 2020

Thanks Toogie, I did receive your email. Ray and I are safe and thankfully lost nothing but our peace of mind, that will no doubt return in time.

Irene, I think we all feel so helpless and in a state of shock that this could happen. I can't look at images of Koalas without breaking down in tears for all the animals lost, and worst for them their unique Eucalyptus tree habitats. I heard one wildlife officer say this might even bring about their extinction and that thought devastates me.

Hi Chris hope you are safe as I hope is Meg. I can't say anymore on what you have already said. I along with other people are feeling helpless. I am ok at the moment but have head that Orange could be in the lie for fires today & I am a 4 hour drive from there so hoping they are wrong. My Daughter as you know is up your way & has been in evac mode for about 5 weeks now. She had news yesterday that Wyong & Tuggerah had fires but I don't know what the situation is there at the moment. and if it got any worse I'm sure she would have let me know. Stay safe

Chris I have been reading about what is going on in some parts of your country. The firefighters are amazing in working day after day after day. What remarkable people they are.
I was chatting to a friend and ex colleague and her daughter was back for Christmas from Sydney. She said that to be able to breath fresh air without a facemask was lovely and the cold damp weather also was lovely. My bit of the world seems to have had rather a lot of rain recently, leaving soggy ground and floods. Our world needs us to take greater care of it so we can pass it on to our grandchildren and their children.
