Prayers for all Chris. I know what it is like. My mom lived in the part of Calif that is always having fires. She never lost a thing to a fire but have been out there when it was very difficult to breathe from smoke due to the fires.
The smoke is here today and you can't see our mountain range which I normally see when driving home from Amy's. Ophelie and Delphi's school is shut tomorrow, lots of school across the state will be closed and they are saying that the fire warning is CATASTROPHIC!
Trevor and I were meant to be going up to Forster about 160km (but there are Fires up that way) away on Wednesday, but it's just too dangerous. Love Chris
Amour chris
Oh, the comments here about your post is so very right on! I wonder at how strong people are to "start again" and Sarah is right - Mother Earth is getting back at us for not treating her with respect. We have over indulged ourselves with her resources and not taking the important steps to conserve resources and stop climate change. Even little steps would help - like turning off lights when not needed and not letting water run when we only need a little. We could stop using plastic bags and make better use of our recyclables. The list goes on...
I hear you Laura, it's time everyone took notice of what is happening to our beautiful world. Love Chris
I think Mother Earth is getting back at us. We are having gale force winds here and have been for days. Joshua sent me pictures from Dubai where they have had heavy rain which has done so much damage to one of the shopping centers. Floods in England........ it just goes on.
It is amazing how strong some people can be in the face of such tremendous loss. Not sure I would measure up! Just want to put my arms around them and hold them close. The worst of this is the fact that so many of these fires were started by humans who were either careless or just malicious. I pray for them too for God to change their hearts. Hugs. Nan
It is heartbreaking to watch these stories on the news. Especially with the solution seeming impossible. I fear this will continue or even get worse with the expanding Natural(methane) gas industry expanding at an alarming rate. The western states and are so involved with the fracking industry. Many folk including myself have spoken out, however it will take more people to do so for the powers that be to do the right thing. We must change our lifestyles in order to save the planet for future generations. I do not think it will happen in my lifetime, even though scientists say it must. We must all become politically aware and active.
Oh Chris. This is so sad. Living in California I am quite aware how horrible those fires are. The devastation is horrendous. Afterwards it takes years to rebuild wether fires or floods. It seems to me as if the weather is upside down.
Hi Angie, it's dreadful, and I, like others, are so thankful for our firies and personnel who help those in dire needs. Love Chris
Such tragedy, Chris. Living in Southern California, we do not have a fire "season" anymore like we did in the past. Our fire "season" is now 365 days a year... Add our Santa Ana winds which began in early October make fire "hurricanes" and "storms" which cannot be stopped. We had fire very close to our home again this past October and by the grace of God, the winds changed direction and the fire moved away from us. So many lives have been impacted by fire and words cannot thank our firefighters, law enforcement and EMT staffs that continually put their lives on the line to save others...and many times when their own families are in the midst of that harms way....
I've seen a bit of it in the news broadcast on TV. Horrendous! And your summer. has yet to start.
Our part of the world is rather wet and the UK has serious flooding in several areas.
The climate is really changing with all sorts of disasters as a result.
Martine, we know it's going to be a long hot summer and I definitely believe climate change is the main cause. I saw the floods in England on TV, just can't get over the dreadful weather changes that are happening all over the world. Love Chris
