I was noticing the other day that some very old Projects had come to the top page some as far back as 2012. What made me think was the number of comments some as many as 40 per post. Now at times less than 10.

I wonder if a lot of Cuties stopped coming because of DBC being taken down.
Just wondering what do you think?

Everyone has got older and due what ever reason, poor health, poor eyesight, death, increase in helping with the elderly or young in our families, moving on to other hobbies, machines breaking and so the list goes on. All are reasons for people no longer posting. Machine embroidery isn't a cheap way of spending ones time and that must rule out many taking it up in the first place. I always presumed that I would have much more time for machine embroidery when I retired but this hasn't been the case as I am a very hands on grandparent and like the rest of you am getting older and don't move at the speed I did. It is life that people move on.

Easy answer... DBC, facebook, etsy and other malls. Rules and regulations added to the bottom line as well. It is a mad mad world, and this system of capitalism where so few get most of the new wealth and creates competition instead of cooperation has something to do with it.

I guess too many factors in this global environment to nail down just one cause.

I didn't know about this site when DBC was around so can not compare to now. I am so glad that I found this site as everyone is so kind, caring and helpful. As Graceandham said, I have learned a lot from this site and also have made many friends.

Me too some of the Cuties are like a walking encyclopedia and so happy to help you do something.

I agree with Graceandham. I am lucky I have downloaded many designs from DBC. When I post one of the DBC designs I try to remember to say it is no longer available. Sometimes I go back many many pages to see what was posted on DBC. I do miss the "older" Cuties and wish they would return and post their new projects or to just let us know they are still around. I just read this site was started September 1, 2007. Wow, we have come a long way since then. Hugs and flowers to all, Suzanna

I downloaded a lot of the designs but had a computer die and lost a lot of them.
Yes the site has been going for a long time hasn't it.
Maybe some of the originals will comment and get back in to the social part of it.

It was a section where a Cutie who could Digitize would put up a design they had made that you could download to use.

Thank you, I am not very good with initials.
I do remember the section but I never downloaded any designs, at that time I had only been a member for a very short time, and I had no idea how to down load.

I think when an old post resurfaces to the top, some of us don't check the date and make new, additional comments, so the older posts keep growing. Lots of us were unhappy about the disappearance of DBC, but I totally understand from a legal viewpoint, it couldn't continue, because of art permissions. That is a minor loss compared to what all else I've learned and enjoyed and received and been a part of on this great site. Just my thoughts.

Yes it was a shame some didn't stick to the rules. As you say still a lot of friendly ones on the site willing to share their knowledge.
