I picked up my machine on Friday ,paid for the service .When the part eventually arrives they will ring me & I only have to pay for the bobbin winder part because no one knows what it will cost at the moment.
The bobbin winder still winds but to get it to wind more evenly you have to help it with your finger. That is what I was doing before.
The bobbin winder is still something I am interested in buying.
Thank you for all the helpful information.
Thank you, Cuties! That's just the info I needed. I'll check with Spotlight, one of their shops is near my home :-)
Hugs to everybody! Lidia
Hey, you're here on the Central Coast aren't you, I had forgotten that.
I answered a post on here a few weeks ago about the portable bobbin winders but I couldn't find it so......
The one I have, I bought from Spotlight Tuggerah and yes it does wind the Husqvarna bobbins as I use it for my Diamond's bobbins. You just have to turn the bobbin upside down on the winding spool.
I did a quick search on ebay and gumtree and didn't find any in Aus, but Punch with Judy has some, though definitely not cheap, especially when you add postage: https://www.punchwithjudy.com.au/...
When I went to the quilt show recently I spoke to a very nice person, from Chatswood Sewing Centre, who specialise in Husqvarna machines, I intend to take my troublesome Diamond to them at the first opportunity and I'm thinking they might be able to help you with your machine. It's late now but I'll go downstairs tomorrow and find his name and number for you and add it below this message. (he did actually tell me about the warehouse fire).
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
I found one at a reasonable price: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Simpl...;hash=item3409b8ccda:g:yLoAAOSwMvJcyknG
Thanks for the information. I guess it's just the upside down thing, but the above site says, "Accommodates all bobbins (except Viking) that have a standard round center hole and includes instructions for use." It just makes one a little leery of ordering specifically for a Viking.
Thank you for the information.
I nearly bought the one from Punch with Judy even though it was dearer, I would have had it in a week against the overseas ones which would have taken 3-4 weeks plus any taxes 7 & our lousy dollar. While looking through items on the net I found it wasn't suitable for my bobbins. See link below
https://www.sewingmachinesplus.co...
From what I have read I need the deluxe model & they are scarce.
I think it's the other way around, the Deluxe model isn't suitable for Husqvarna. Only the older, basic model, where you put the bobbin on upside down. I could bring mine over to your place one day and show you that it does work for our bobbins, it isn't the simplicity but they look identical. The simplicity one on Ebay actually says it is made by Wrights.
I tell you what, if you buy the Simplicity one from ebay and it doesn't do your bobbins, I will swap you with mine.
The Ebay one is the best price $48.85 AUD including postage, no taxes apply for goods under $1,000 AUD.
hugs, Meg
I would even purchase it for you if you aren't used to dealing on Ebay. I do it all the time. Hugs Meg
Chatswood Sewing Centre, who may be able to help with your machine repair, details as follows;
phone number (02) 9417 5454, you should ask to speak to Shane. He was very helpful and I think he is the boss.
It turns out that the bobbin winder is linked up to different parts of the machine which are behind the computer screen. The part which is needed has been ordered but they have no idea when it is coming in .
My machine has been put back together rather reluctantly so I can pick it up.
Someone else has a machine waiting for a part too.So it is Husqvarna who is the blame for the long delays
and I thought 4 weeks was too long to wait for my machine to come home. Hope all goes well and you are satisfied with the results.
I have the little Sidewinder and the Simplicity. The little Sidewinder does not fill the green Viking bobbins but the Simplicity comes with a bunch of other posts, that the bobbins fit on, and it will wind the Viking. I have Viking and Babylock machines, so I actually do this.
Looks like I may need to look for this Simplicity winder. Thanks for the information.
I went looking and found recommendations for the Simplicity Deluxe winder and then proceeded to find that it is currently unavailable at everyplace I tried to purchase it. Which version do you have?
Sorry, didn't see your other question of which version do I have. It doesn't say anything other than "Simplicity Deluxe Sidewinder. I hope this is helpful.
I have to say I am horrified to hear that your machine has been waiting for 9 weeks for a service. I know if I were having to contact after such a time I would be saying that they needed to improve their service and speed up considerably and probably a few extra words. I worked out that I am double the distance you are each way from my dealer and they are fantastic with their customers. My machine has been serviced in a day so it doesn't have to be left or within the time I am nearby if I am staying in the area. Please let us know what happens and hopefully your machine will be back with you very, very soon.
I think you have to turn the HV bobbins upside down to wind them on those stand alone winders. Hugs Nan
I have HV bobbins and used to be able to wind them on my mother's old singer, but lost it in a flood. If I turned my bobbins upside down, they wouldn't work because the thread would come off the bobbin in the wrong direction.
Just did some research and was informed that you are correct. The way this winder works, the HV bobbins do need to be turned upside down. Learn something new everyday.
Thank you.I just read the details on Simplicity Side winder portable bobbin 88175 & it states that Husqvarna bobbins won't work on this machine
Sewtired, yes, if you don't turn them upside down the thread is running the wrong way for the Husqvarna. I always use my sidewinder for my Diamond's bobbins. ( I always get confused doing it and have to really think about what I'm doing. LOL!!!)
killiecrankie this Simplicity sidewinder looks the same as mine, not the so called Deluxe model.
