Sources for inspiration: It occurred to me this week as I paged through a catalog, that some of what they were showing I could make similar. Ya'll know I don't mean at my sewing machine, which is in disuse, pretty much. I mean my embroidery machine. Saw a really cute toucan shirt, with the toucan's bill strategically to attract attention to the chest area. It was so attractive. Then I remembered all the fabulous tropical and Aussie birds in my designs collections. See how that works? Don't just automatically toss those mail order catalogs.

That's how it has always been for me. I look at something and if I like it I say, well I think I can make that, so I give it a try. Of course with some of the prices of fabrics you may not can make it as cheap as they sell because they can buy cheaper in bulk, but your own is better made, I am sure.

Agreed. I have a folder or two with pics of things I would like to put together. I am waiting on an order from China with elastic to use with my knit fabrics. Yeah I have ideas for a whole collection. I will start with one set of pj's for me. Of course all with need to be embellished! Lol!

I get inspired by what I see in the shops as well. Grand daughter wants a particular skirt at a boutique I said to hubby I wore a skirt like that way back when. Came home and got out the old Enid Gilchrist book for 1970's and sure enough there it was. Just waiting for her to get back to me with her correct measurements.
So part will be sewing machine work and I am going to try out pocket placement on the embroidery machine.
Skirt she saw was very similar to a flannelette and sells for $39.95.
