I am so excited for you I am dancing too. It is such a great feeling when you break through the barrier and they finally start to trust you. It will happen more and more as she gets comfortable with you all. She will realize she has a golden life with you both. You are on your way!!
I am making progress with Razz and Smokey too. Razz is the hold out. he is still hissing every once in a while. They have both had upper resp. and I have had to handle them a lot to give them meds. Smokey has come around but is still a bit skittish Razz is still giving you Raspberries when you talk to him but I tell him to give it up he is not going to win. I pick him up anyway. He is still small enough to do this. .I give them love and patience ... They will convert and socialize. I have done this so many times before.
Keep up the great work. !!! Love to hear you are making headway!
Merry Christmas my friend! Suzanne
so, you've had your Christmas gift from Jiffy and Parfait. Hope she continues to fit in to the household.
You are so right, it was the best present ever!! Had a repeat performance of loving from her a few hours ago and Jiffy is the one who got her out of her lair......of course still through the screen door. I won't let them interact until we can handle her in case there is an issue..
What wonderful news Vicki! Parfait is so lucky to have you. You have been so patient with her and giving her just what she needs when she needs it. She will eventually realize what a wonderful home she now has with you and Jim. As far as ignoring Jiffy hissing at her goes, I think she knew who she needed to pay attention to!!!!
Oh how exciting! I know you still have a long way to go, but I'm sure she is going to come around. Cats do have such quirky personalities. Guess that's why we love them so much (not to mention the purring and stuff!).
Thanks so much for the update, I love to hear about your progress.
Thanks for your encouragement......am disappointed that it didn't happen with Jim first, as I wanted her to bond to him more than me (4 of the other girls have bonded more with me, so wanted him to have this one) but it is what it is....just want one of us at least to be able to handle her...
Most of our cats have been neutral as far as people go, but our latest acquisition is definitely Daddy's little boy. It's funny because "Daddy" didn't even come with us when we went to the shelter and picked him out.
What encouraging news Vicki. I know she will come round eventually. Love Chris
I visited with her a little bit ago and with my back to her she eventually came out and loved in me, then she went over and ate with me in the room with her...woo hoo!
You are amazing! She will come around for sure and then know the good life! Jiffy raising a rukus... too funny!
Parfait is a spitting image of Jiffy only smaller version...like half the size......
How long does it take on the average before they come around? I have no experience in this at all. Dogs seem to be a lot easier in that regard. Thank you for all the patience, care and love you give to your 4 legged friends.
So hard to say, everyone of them have been different. I think if Buster had lived it would have helped a lot as she is a cat's cat, but I thought it would be about 3 months before she let us touch her and it hasn't been a month yet, so am encouraged. I went downstairs to feed her lunch a bit ago and she hissed at me.....very unlike the loving animal she was last night, but at least she talked to me...LOL! Not only do we need to teach her house rules, but we also have to make sure the other kitties will tolerate her before we let her loose......
