Hello Cuties, well I finally got back to work on my deer panel quilt. It's a good size to wrap up in, about 50 x 70.

I free motioned quilted it, on my regular machine. I never tried anything this big before and don't think I will again, anytime soon-lol-I just couldn't seem to get the right picture, but I guess you can see well enough. I am satisfied with it, but wished I could have gotten the other panel made into a queen size top, before Christmas.
Anyway, I also made this duck panel. I'm giving it to my grandson Dalton who is expecting his first baby in March. I figure dad won't mind taking his turn helping with baby Dawson, if he has a duck hunter quilt-lol-I also free motion quilted this one. I changed thread color on the head and neck area. I also tried to stitch back and forth around the breast area to see if it helped with the feathers. I liked it okay but where I started and stopped, it pulled my dark thread out in the back and so I have little dark dots of thread showing on the blue....
Well, I hope you like my finished family gifts. I will try to catch up on birthdays and such. I was down with my back for a while. Went to doctor for shot and meds, then when getting over that caught a bad cold and ran fever for couple days.
Oh and to top all that, my husband and I got our Christmas present early...a water bill for $590! that we have to pay. We had a pipe broke in the back of our land that we did not know.
We had gone to church and afterwards to eat. Our son called. He was here and had gone to back shed to borrow something when he heard and saw the water all in the back. We weren't able to see it from the house and hadn't been back there in a while. He turned the water off and we came home. It only took them 15 minutes to fix. Needless to say, being sick for 3 weeks and having this too, has put a damper on my spirit as it's due Friday or after the 15th, delinquent charge will be $649 !....

Thanks, I have been resting, because my body forces me to.
We have one great-grandson already from Caleb, Dalton's cousin and my oldest grandson. However, Caleb is giving us our first great-grand daughter and Dalton is giving us a g-grandson. They are due in March and April, only days apart.

Toogie, they are both gorgeous. I love the way you quilted the duck!

I hope your water bill does not spoil your Christmas festivities: happy Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you mops, I am glad they are done. Well, I still have to make the label for the duck quilt and THEN I can say they are both done.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, too!

Nice job you did on the panels. I did a few panels and I had a lady do machine quilting for me

When I get the next panel done, it will be queen size so I may get a long arm quilter to do it. It's too hard on my hands even tho I love free motion quilting. Don't know if I'm really any good at it but I love trying.

Both quilts are fabulous! I admire your free motion quilting skills for sure. So the panel is the whole front? I love it!

The duck/goose panel is just the panel quilted.

The deer panel was cut into 9 pieces. I then framed it up with strips of fabric for the window look. Also, added rectangle blocks and strips to resemble a brick wall.

They turned out very well. They say the second one is easier, should go fine.

Love them both, but especially the window and bricks addition. I've had that awful burst pipe water bill, but our water dept. was kind enough to cut the bill in half (one time only ever to an address) if you presented proof of a plumber's repair bill. So, that helped.

Thanks Betsey. The water system said I could pay it over the next 6 months, which will help.

I am here if you need any help and other Cuties are too, so don't let anything scare you. You are right to start small, then before you know it you'll try something this size. Thank you for looking!

It is very satisfying to have completed a large project isn't it! You have two wonderful examples of many hours at the sewing machine and the prior knowledge if you ever get tempted to do it again, haha. I love them.xx

I will have to do it again because I bought two deer panels. What was I thinking?!!! I know the guys all like it, but I will be sick of doing same thing, over and over.
Thank you so much for commenting and you're right 2 days just free motion quilting. My hands would start cramping and I would have to stop a while. Glad at least one deer is done.

Oh, Toogie, I'm so sorry to hear you've been sick and I'm certain getting that water bill didn't help you feet any better! It's a good thing you son needed something from the shed or it could have been worse. Both your quilts are terrific! The brick border on the one really sets the design off! It looks like those deer is right outsider your window. The Canada goose quilt is perfect for the babysitting duck hunter!
Take care, dear lady and have a wonderful Christmas! Hugs*, Deb

Thanks Deb and Merry Christmas to you as well.
The water meter reader was here re-reading the meter when the doctors office called. They had a cancellation and if I could be there in 15 minutes the doctor would see me. I drove (cried) myself to the doctor with my back while left hubby here to deal with the water guy. Thought I couldn't feel any worse, until I got back and hubby told me what he said about the bill! Oh well, it's 'water under the bridge', as they say or I should say, 'water in the back land'!
