Sewing room vacuum cleaner. What do you use? I bought the Shark and you cannot keep the brushes from turning. You can't turn off the brushes and just use the vacuum part. I have carpet in my room. It quickly pulled up all the threads I couldn't see, and wrapped them up around the rollers. For the 5 minutes of vacuuming, it took me 20 minutes to unwrap the mess. Help! What do you use? Thank you, Jan

I read on one of those HOUSEHOLD TIPS that a NEW toilet brush kept in your sewing room for just this purpose is the ideal way to brush up and dispose of threads on a carpet! I have not tried it as I have tiles in my sewing room!x

I also have a Shark that is several years old. The on/off switch has two clicks, the first one is without brushes, the second is with brushes. The first click was found by mistake and thought the machine was not working properly, after several tries of turning on and off I finally figured out how the switch works. Give it a try, very gently turn on the machine to see if you only have vacuum and not brush action. Let me know if this helps.

I have a shark. I simply let the vacuum sit in one place and use the crevace tool to get all the threads up, but I have a very small sewing room

I have a Bissell Cordless Bolt 18V(it needs replaced after 5 years). You can turn off the brushes and it also has a detachable small vac. I will replace with the same if still available. I like the rechargeable cordless. I think I got it at Wal-Mart.

I have a rubber tooth Broom ( called a pet broom) and sweep the floor where the threads are into a pile then just pick up a ball of it. Then Vac no problem.
Got my broom at the Supermarket in the cleaning isle.

I have an old canister vacuum that has a ring of brushes around the floor attachment. The brushes do not move, occasionally I have to pull the attachment off and use the wand to slurp the threads off the brush.

I had the same problem with my old Shark vacuum. I now use a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum. It has a tangle free brush that actually works as they claim! The thread and hair gets trapped in a compartment that is easily dumped in the trash. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a commercial, but this is the first vacuum that has truly dealt with thread and hair that I don't have to cut, pull, unroll, wrestle from the brush.

I had that problem with the Oreck and thought the shark was different. Wish I could help.

Any time you use sticky back stabilizer, save the sticky frame after your stitchout and use several of these to "blot" up the threads from the carpet around the machine before vacuuming.

Hey Jan... an easy way to untangle those threads and long hair.... with scissors cut across the brush and they'll easily pull off... also use a wire hair brush to grab those threads more easily, good luck LOL

Before I vacuum I get down on hands and knees and take a sticky lint roller and run it across the carpet and that picks up a tremendous amount

That’s exactly what I do. I have found it the best way to remove threads and pet hair off the carpet
