I am stopped in my tracks again. This time the machine stitched out well until... ??? most of the second wing has the bobbin thread showing through. I try to load the bobbin and it will not catch. I guess it is time to take it apart... again, How often do you have to take the bobbin area apart? The dark brown is the bobbin thread

I think you would get a much better result if you used the soluble vilene. That is the only stabiliser I use for lace.

Also bobbin thread showing on the top is usually a result of the top thread pulling it through - maybe the top thread being caught somewhere as it is sewing.

OH, and they were so beautiful too. I only have luck with vilene, but my friend uses those disposable laundry bags and she likes them a lot!

So the machine went back to the shop with an apology note stating I will never use glitter tule again. But oh how I love the look of it. This piece does not have the glitter tulle so I will take a pic of the pieces today. They did say it will only be 2 - 3 weeks instead of the usual 4 weeks to get it back.

I have been using badgemaster for years. I am on my second 50 yard roll and it works well. I have not tried the mesh yet. So the mesh dissolves away completely?

My Babylock hates fsl. Doesn't matter what I use for stabilizer. I can hear that bobbin flopping around in there making knots and breaking needles. Too bad they didn't bother to use metal parts for the bobbin. I don't know why they don't hire staff so that the turn around time isn't so long. Very annoying.

Agreed! Still better than a month.

I don't use the plastic type either, except for a topper on towels or knits.

Such bad luck with this Chris. I'm with Hilda, I don't use the plastic type WSS, I use the mesh type. I'm glad you worked out what went wrong. Better luck next time. Love Chris

Hi Chris, I use plastic WWS but it looks nothing like the plastic that Christine has used. They are the water soluble laundry bags that hospitals use and I get them sent from Cape Town. They are really thin and a joy to sew with. Unfortunately there is no place any where near me that sells
the mesh type.

I have used laundry bags and they work well.

When I make lace I use 2 layers of washaway viilene never have any problems I have a Janome 305E . I think that it is more stable than solvey . it looks like the solvey has loosened . . I recently sewed out the babies pram from stitch delight it took a long time but all I used was 2 pieces of wash away vilene . I laid one piece vertical and other horizontal never missed a beat . Also i only sew 1 piece of lace at a time . Just my 2cents worth .
Good luck
Hilda

So I open my machine and OMG! The there is glitter all over it. I had done a couple pieces testing out to see if I liked it and NOPE! I don't like it. Good thing I have a cleaning contract. I am going back to angelina fiber. It takes longer because I make the sheets myself. But... another month without my machine.

When this happens to me, I usually suspect 1 There might be a piece of thread somewhere it shouldn't be. 2. It needs new needle 3. I have not done the bobbin just right. I hate when this happens too. Hope you get it all figured out. Hugs

I think I am putting the bobbin case in incorrectly. This is why hubby usually does maintenance, except last time he did it really wrong. Maybe his way was right! UGH!

Not so often these days, since I had my machine serviced. I would take the whole of the bobbin housing out as there might be a thread stuck or just general fluff. I know just how irritating this can be.

It came back form the shop for the second time this year a couple weeks ago. Eveytime I take it in for cleaning it is a month without it.

I hate that waiting for your machine just for them to get to it. It should be a waiting list so you could take your machine in when they are ready to work on it.

graceandham by graceandham 01 Oct 2018

Amen. I have been asking for this waiting list - Repair By Appointment.
