Oh My! What a treasure! Nice sister to share all that with you!
Yes, she shared the info about it and then hauled it for me after I bought it all!
Oh my! That's a lot of thread! It was sweet of her to think of you and haul all that thread with her on her way home! Sort of like Christmas in July. It looks like you are just going to store it in tubs, really big tubs. Lucky you!
No this is one of those shallow, clear plastic containers, on wheels, from Walmart. I roll it under my bed. I just have one and it holds this many. I think they're called under bed storage containers, may be for sweaters and such.
Amazing well worth the money, hope you gave your Sis a big hug for thinking about you. I also use Serger thread sometimes for piecing my quilt blocks,
I did that myself one time to just see how it would do. If I remember it came out good.
Oh my goodness what a great assortment! I wonder what you're next freebie items will be! Lucky you!
Fabric, got it today.
We went to my aunts today. She lost her husband recently. She is moving close to her children and wanted me to come and get fabric and batting. I have it sorted down my hall and into my sewing room. Using this thread to serge the raw edges, before putting in the wash. Will take me all week, I'm sure and then don't know where I'll put it.....
I really, seriously wish you were close to come get it. My daughter is coming later and I am going to tell her this. She has been wanting to learn to sew. Take some of this and get a pattern from my files and have a go. She has plenty to practice with.
I have room too! Thanks for the invite....I'll see you soon!! Just kidding. I also serge before washing. Hugs, Suzanna
As Bob Barker would say, 'Come on down'!-lol
Serging prevents a lot of tangling trying to get out of washer, for sure.
Your Sister sounds like my Cousin if she sees a sewing related bargain she grabs it for me. She isn't a sewer either but seems to be in the right place at the right time for stores closing down in another state.
You have a wonderful selection of threads lucky you.
Just a thought keep 5 reels for your 4 thread overlocker as one reel uses much more thread than the other 3. I also use them at times with a thread stand on a regular machine if the colour match is better than I have in the smaller reels for normal sewing or a buttonhole.
That is why we were grouping them in 5, but 15 to a lot, of 3 colors. When I told one of my friends how we were selling them she insisted she only wanted 4 of a color. I tried to tell her she could use the fifth one on her regular machine like I do or like you say one serger will run out before another. She passed it up b/c she didn't want the extra cone for another dollar! Oh well....
Oh Wow--the Mother Load!!!! Why can't I seem to get in on all these finds!!!! I am wondering where in the world did she find all these????
Lucky you to have a sister that know about threads. As they say A girl canĀ“t have to many bags. In this case i think you have to say THREADS
That's just it Anita, she doesn't know about threads. She gave the guy my number and we spoke via the phone and I bought all this sight unseen. She just hauled it down for me and of course paid the guy, until I paid her back when she came. Still, she did think of me!!!
So happy for you & that your sister thought of you. Will save you a lot of money in the future. Arlene
Yay! A big win. So glad she was thinking of you.
Yes, I probably threw her a curve ball, when she asked me if I wanted $50. worth of thread. Then after speaking to the guy myself, I told her no, I wanted $300. worth!-lol
WOW is right. I am so happy for you.
Thanks Angie-when she called to tell me about it, she said the man that she was buying from had bought contents from a fabric store, she thought. I talked to him via phone and I believe it must have been a sewing factory closing, as so many colors are alike and he had commercial serger machines for sell too.
I bought $300. of threads, sight unseen! I was afraid of too many duplicates, but that is when she said keep what you want and sell the rest. I told her I couldn't sell to ship but she said I should have enough friends here at home that sew or embroider. She hauled it here in her van, so thank goodness she had room.-lol
Toogie, I would have bought some from you, had we have lived closer. You deserve this terrific lot, you do great things for so many people. I am sure they will all make such wonderful designs, and you certainly will have a lot of pleasure using them.
I wish I lived closer to you or any Cutie, too. I didn't advertise, just sold to friends I knew that sewed or embroidered. Shipping is too costly to ship anywhere. I still have about 75 to 85 serger threads left to sell and 10 or 12 Maderia. If shipping weren't so high, I know I could get rid of them.
You are quite a lucky person..
I bet you have now enough thread to sew something for every cutie here on board ;-)
Is that a hint?-lol-or are you all coming on a trip with us?-lol
I should need thread for quiet some time, for sure.
Wow, Toogie, That is an enormous amount of thread! Even after selling a lot you still have so much left. It will keep you stitching for a long time! I love those 5000m cones, they seem almost endless. You must be over the moon!
Yes I was tickled pink! I do wish there were more variety of Maderia color though. There must have been just 9 colors before repeating. I kept me a set and my daughter a set. Some of the Maderia is in with the serger cones in the bin I got to slide under my bed.
