Always love all your sewing projects. I am now sorry I threw away my small scraps of vinyl from Key fobs I made. I could make mini labels like you. I think I will go through my sewing room bin now !!
Start digging!!!-lol
Thank you very much for looking at my projects and I appreciate your comment.
Toogie,
Parlan is a fusible batting. Link below

Most excellent, Toogie...I probably get a bit heavy for you sitting on your shoulder....he he he....I find that a glue stick works wonders getting small pieces of fabric, etc, to stay in place until I can stitch around it...or if a bit larger, temporary adhesive spray...just a quick shot....these are lovely...job well done!
You'd be surprised how light you are, especially the times I forget!-lol
I ended up just taping it in place and the tape comes off easily enough, when I'm through. I have to use what I have because I'm too far from a town....Now if I could just see to sew around a curve-lol
These are beautiful. Hugs
He is home but still having tests to determine just what is wrong. How is little Gus?
I haven't heard from them since Monday but he had gone 2 days without vomiting, poor baby.
I hope your dh's test determine his problem. You would think with all the test they've done and the medical knowledge today they could help Gus and your husband.......
Oh, my Toogie, you are amazing! I love them both! Glad you got some ME time - it sure resulted in beautiful bags! Hugs*, Deb
HI Toogie, so glad you go to do some MACHINE EMBROIDERY (ME) time yesterday. I haven't done any for a couple of weeks. I just love these bags they are so much fun to do.
I'm off to a Cutwork workshop tomorrow (Thursday from 9.00 till 4.30) with a lady called Dawn Johnson it's at my local Zig Zag sewing shop where I bought my Brother Quattro sewing machine from.
This is the list of things I've got to take with me - Embroidery machine in good working order.
You require a minimum 200mm x 200mm hoop size.
Hoop closest to 200mm x 200mm (for janome owners please bring your 230 x 230 quilting hoop along.)
Foot control (if applicable) and power cord.
4 bobbins pre wound with bobbinfil appropriate for your machine
Good quality white embroidery thread.
A 10" piece of fabric of your choice for the cut work. It can be any colour you like. The background fabric is fairy frost snow white.
1 reel of thread to match your fabric colour.
Sewline glue pen.
Sewline marking pen and eraser.
Flower head pins
Curved scissors for appliqué. These MUST be curved and sharp.
Embroidery size 75 and 90 needles.
Best press.
505 spray.
10" white zipper.
Your kit will include the top and bottom fabric to make the pillow, stabiliser to complete your project, Parlan and wadding.
It's going to be fun as I've not done cutwork before and there will be a few ladies booked in for the class, so I'm looking forward to seeing how we all go at it. Love Chris
P.S. Go have a look at her website - I tried it in the Links, but it wouldn't let me - came up with a link error. https://dawnjohnsondesigns.com
It sounds like a day of fun! I hope you learn, enjoy and come back with a few tips for the rest of us.
What is Parlan?
Sorry, someone came in, so I got interrupted. I was asking what Parlan was as I've not heard of this. The 10 inch piece of fabric makes it sound like applique, instead of cutwork. I will be curious until you come back and show us.....
Hi Toogie, Parlan is fusible wadding. We get it here at Spotlight stores (it's a large Fabric, manchester, all sorts of craft store) it's about 100cm wide and you iron it on.
It's used as a batting/interfacing behind stitcheries to stop shadows and or distorting designs. You are right we are doing an applique piece, but she does the most amazing work. Love Chris
I like those 'I must do something creative now'-days, the results are always surprising and often wonderful. And yours fit the latter description, they look great! I bet it cheered you up.
It did me worlds of good, thank you. My daughter likes the scrap/strip one but then so do I ! -lol
Wonderful accomplishment. I think they look awesome. And what a great idea for the tag! We all need me time.
I'm glad you took some ME time! You and your family have been going through so much with Gus. And what a nice result of this time. They look great!
Oh Karen its been a lot lately....anyway, I love it when I have something to show for my time. While sitting on the porch at my mother-in-laws visiting on Sunday afternoon, a brother-in-law asked me why did I do cross stitch. He said he wouldn't have patience for that, just go buy something. I told him it was something I enjoyed, I could see better outside with natural light. Then I asked him when we leave what did he have to show for his time? I like having busy hands.
Glad to hear that stitching these wonderful bags made you feel better! They are always useful and make nice gifts. I see that you have a lot of that material that you used for the lining. I have trouble getting directional fabric in the right direction and not crooked, but you sure got it nice and straight inside those bags!
I don't know about that, but you should see how much I had to trim off a FQ I'm fixing to sew, just to have the print going straight!
The black bag with hearts is the print I was speaking of. To get the hearts going straight, I wasted a good portion of my FQ.
