Poor little darling, I was hoping the scans would give a definitive answer Toogie. In the meantime I hope that this new medication for the inflammation of his esophagus and stomach is helping. The problem with him throwing up so much is that he will not be getting enough nutrition and losing weight. 3 months seems a long time to wait whilst in the meantime he could still be vomitting! I pray that Gus gets some relief soon. Love Chris
Ashley gets him to drink 2 Ensure a day, to help get his nutrients. Thank goodness he likes it. I was hoping too for answers....
May 8th-Gus went back to the specialist yesterday. All the scans showed nothing. The doctor said he would have rather tested with solid foods than the juice, as it would have processed slower. If he keeping throwing up, he wants to repeat these scans again in a few months and try test with the solid food. So all this and we still don't know why. He had put him on something for the inflammation of the esophagus and stomach and he hasn't threw up in a couple days. Time will tell. He may be like some of your children that do this.... We may never know.
My daughter had a motility disorder, and our gastro doctor at first treated her with Reglan. Please stay away from that medicine. A different doctor (at Mayo Clinic, which is a phenomenal place) prescribed a medicine that we had to order from Canada, and it was so helpful.
This was a scan for motility disorder. Do you know what the medicine was?
I have been to Mayo Clinic for myself. Phenomenal place.
Poor little guy. I'll be praying for good results and that you'll finally have some answers as to what's going on with Gus. Praying they can stop the testing and focus on starting the healing . Hugs for you all. Deb
Testing he has endured better than the daily vomiting....
I have joked before and told everybody I wrote the song for Garth Brooks, 'I thank God for Unanswered Prayer'. I threw up so much for each of my 3 pregnancies, but the last one I actually prayed to die, I was so sick. I would loose so much weight, I actually was at my beginning weight, at the time of delivery.
At least you knew it would end when you gave birth. Poor little Gus has been vomiting since August, so this is the ninth month......if only it would end.
Praying for good results on Monday!!! Prayers for all.
Thursday - Just letting you know Gus completed that test/study even if it couldn't be done with solid food. He was fussy the last 3 scans so we had to hold him still but he was sleepy and tired. He really was a good boy to be so little. We were so thankful he did not throw up the apple juice with medicine during the test. The radiologist said if he threw up during any part of the scans, it would all have to be repeated.
The doctors office called and said the X-ray that was done the day before showed NO blockage or impaction which we know he still has good bm's.
He goes back to doctor Monday for result of these scans, unless they call before. I was wore out last night so I am sorry didn't get back to you until now. Thanks for being here for my family. A lot is going on right now, on both sides of our family, but that is what happens when you come from a big family.
I hope all of you have a great day today-Toogie
Thanks for the update. Now waiting for Monday and results. Poor Gus to have to go through all of this.
More prayers for Gus!! He probably feels like he has been pokes and prodded enough! Keep us informed! Hugs and love, Laura
Laura he has been unbelievably good through it all. On the other hand, we said if it had been Nora , we would have had to hog tie her!-lol
You all must be exhausted! I keep praying for Gus so i'm pleased to get an update. It sounds like they are getting closer to the issue. I hope Nora's garden both at home and with her grandparents is very successful and this scary chapter will be behind you soon.
Ashley and I were both worn out. The hospital is about an hour and a half away, so we use 3 hours round trip. Then the time to do the test, eat lunch, go pick up Nora from the other grandparents, explain to them, etc. Thank goodness when we got back here my DH had supper/dinner almost cooked. After we ate, I told Ashley I would clean up the kitchen, she could go on home and bathe the kids and her daddy could water his garden. (I hope the gardens do well too, as it's good for the children to learn where the food REALLY comes from.. Our earth, not the grocery store!) I got my bath at dark and was too tired to get on Cute.
Taking 'pictures' every 15 minutes for 2 hour period. He refused to eat so had to give him nuclear medicine in apple juice. Have 3 more to take.
Well, if you want a happy baby, take grandma with! I hope that you two can keep him happily occupied during the study tomorrow.
Hugs and prayers for you and your family.
Kathy

Toogie, Am keeping you all in our prayers.. When I had mine done, they put the meds in a scrambled egg. Couldn't taste it. Praying everything goes well for little Gus.
Wouldn't eat the eggs so o o we had to wait 30 more minutes for them to get more medicine for apple juice ... We have 3 more 'pictures' to take . So far he has been really still for them.
Thanks for the update. Have been wondering how he was. I will keep you all in my prayers. Hugs
Have fun with Nora...hopefully, you will get some good news about Gus!
Praying that all will go well with the biopsies Toogie. So happy to hear about the garden planting and I know they will bear a lot of fruit. Love Chris
I hope the neighbors ducks and the squirrels and deer here will stay out of the gardens, and we get to eat more than they do!
All the updates are above. We still are looking for an answer and stoppage of the vomiting....
keep us updated, hopefully there will be answers now. enjoy the help of your little gardener, great Nora is so excited with the plants.
Yes Nora is excited and she needs to learn how we get our food.
Updates are all above about Gus but no diagonosis yet.
Gus continues in my prayers - Let us know how the doctor visit went! Nora will keep your mind busy - Love and Hugs, Laura
Thanks for reminding me. When my first born was five we planted two cherry tomato plants out back. He would "sneak" over to that part of the yard and start stuffing his face with tomatoes. I would come out to check on him and he would look like a little pufferball. He thought he was getting away with something and we did too! This was also the age he would ask if I would slice him a whole tomato for dessert and I would say, well if you eat all your vegetables!
Will Keep an eye on the post. Hopefully you will get some hopeful answers. I can just see Nora's excitement about her special plant
I laughed at her Angie but I kinda felt the same way.
She was going to help us plant speckled butterbeans. Papa told her to push the bean down into the ground so far or make a hole with her finger and drop the bean in. He would come back and cover it with more dirt.
Well, she was working next to me. I looked over at her because she had stopped and was looking at her hands. She said, "Gram, I'm going in. I've gotta wash this dirt off my fingers"- lol She couldn't stand it under her nails and I don't like it either but it can wash off!- lol
