UPDATE: Just made some salted caramel fudge and some chocolate marshmallow fudge posted by maggiecal, half with sprinkles. Verdict is they are both delicious. Pieces are 2cm x 3cm and managed to get 48 pieces. These will be for Easter gifts

***

Do you know those days when you just feel like a certain something to eat. Well I wanted some fudge but refused to pay $1 per piece. I have tried making it countless times before on the stove-top with varying degrees of success. That was until I found this recipe for microwave fudge. It tastes just like the English tablet we bought at the market as kids only better. Best of all it costs about $5 all up if you were to buy everything and it makes around 36-40+ pieces depending how big you cut them. We had everything in the pantry so I didn't need to run out to the store. This will make a great gift at Christmas for those people that have everything.

I didn't use the same brands, just what I had in my pantry

Am having issues adding a pic so will try my phone. Firefox on laptop keeps crashing on cute when I try to select a photo

Looks fantastic - making my chocolate one (with lots of pecans in it) in a few minutes, The sprinkles are a nice touch. Is the salted caramel a microwave recipe as well?

Thanks. We really like the recipe you posted it is a lobely soft creamy fudge. The salted caramel fudge is the same recipe i posted above but I used raw sugar instead and then sprinkled it with rock salt before it set in the pan.

Thanks!! Yes, everyone in my extended family makes that chocolate one now - it's so easy!

maggiecal by maggiecal 01 Apr 2018

Should add - our terms are so different :-) . Rock salt in the U.S. is what you put on roads to make the snow melt, quite caustic, it can pit your cement driveway!

Sewmum1 by Sewmum1 03 Apr 2018

Oh dear that would definitely cause a few issues! Terminology misunderstanding can cause so much confusion can't it?

This is a lovely entry, but I am so sorry you posted a picture. I keep lingering at your photo and thinking, is there any chocolate in the house? So far, the only thing I've thought of is hot chocolate, which doesn't come close to your lovely fudge.

Oh i hope you can fix your chocolate craving soon. This certainly works for us and I think you can even add cocoa for a chocolate version but I think I might even try the recipe just posted by maggiecal next for a chocolate one. It looks even quicker

I make the Chocolate Microwave Fudge every Christmas - there are a bunch of recipes out there. My fav adds vanilla and doesn't add butter (rich enough). Although not sure where I got my recipe, this looks like what I use (I often don't add salt) https://www.eaglebrand.com/recipe...

Looks very jummy. Golden syrup is thick and sticky. We also have a brand in South Africa called Golden Syrup. Enjoy your fudge

Is the golden syrup what makes it Russian fudge? I don't believe I've ever heard of Russian fudge before.

I am not sure. Never heard of Russian fudge either until I found this recipe

Janus48 by Janus48 26 Mar 2018

I'll bet originally it was called "Rushin' Fudge"...as it's a quick easy recipe?? (Sorry....couldn't help myself...I like puns"

I have looked for the golden syrup here in the States and could not find it. Otherwise I would love to try this recipe.

Its probably the same as the corn syrup here in the US

crafter2243 by crafter2243 26 Mar 2018

you can purchase on Amazon

Sewmum1 by Sewmum1 26 Mar 2018

Sorry didn't realise it was something you don't have in the U.S.. Have you checked the international section? I don't know if honey or corn syrup would work as the taste is not the same.

cfidl by cfidl 27 Mar 2018

my next amazon purchase will include some of this stuff! Thanks

I have made 3 batches now and all worked perfectly. I added rum essence in one and that was yummy too!
